Pic request: D-Blue/DSSD on smaller wrists - not up-close

I'm extremely happy with my v2 Explorer 1 and I plan to keep it forever. In the next couple of months I'd like to add a slightly 'shoutier' piece, and I really want a D-Blue, but I'm concerned about the size on my just over 6.5" wrist. I've tried on a DSSD, but left still feeling unsure.

I will add that I like to wear my Exp fairly snug above the bone, which I gather would help with the fit of the D-Blue.

With a new startup underway, I'm a little worried I won't have expendable cash for too much longer so I'd like to do it while I can (and while the D-Blue is still being made). The Exp1 and D-Blue would, for me, be a perfect two-watch collection to boot.

Anyway, show me your D-Blue or DSSD on a smaller wrist pics, especially not up-close ones so I can get a sense for scale. Side shots etc would be great, too.

For anyone not quite sure about the size and thickness of the DSSD, I think checking out the new SD43 has to be a must first.

Point taken; but I'm not interested in anything with a cyclops (or an aftermarket crystal, before anyone chimes in). Ideally I'd get one without a date, but for the D-Blue I'll let it slide since it doesn't have the cyclops.

If I don't go with a D-Blue I'll just get a no-date Sub.

I have a similar wrist size to yours and here is a pic of my DSSD. I have had it almost three years and it gets a lot of wear.

It's quite a top heavy watch and not as well balanced as my Daytona. I also wear the bracelet a little tighter as you do notice it moving about more on your wrist if you don't.

I get the sense the Daytona is probably about as balanced as the Exp1 is (which for me is uncanny comfortable). I think I'm ok with that trade-off for a monster D-Blue, and I realize that, at least by comparison, it's going to be a lot more top-heavy than the Exp (or pretty much any other SS sports Rolex for that matter).

If not for PCL's I'd probably put the Daytona on the list.

Edit: Do you find you're more likely to smack your DSSD against stuff due to the thickness?

Smaller wrists here.

Love the D-Blue. Only knock I have is the thickness. I will be taking a look at the SD43 to see how it rides.

Scroll to the bottom for photos.

It's not a small watch, I wasn't sure if I would like it until I've got it sized properly. Love it so much now and it's sharing the same amount of wrist time as my DJ2. Never smacked it against anything so far, but will find out in my coming 10 days trip in US!

Yes - it does get knocked a little more but it is built like a tank and mine only has the usual light scratches. There is also the steel ring protecting the outside of the ceramic bezel to protect from potential chips.

Good to know. The metal around the Cerachrom is definitely something I want, and another reason that (unfortunately) I just don't think I could do a Daytona.

This is something I've heard repeatedly -- sizing is especially important for the D-Blue.

This is always the angle that gives me pause and makes me want to chicken out on the D-Blue. It looks so tall there.

For reference, here's my Exp1 on my wrist. This is right about where I like to wear it, and it's snug (but not tight) so it's not super likely to move much.

I feel like this is a stupid question, but is it more likely that, due to the heft, the D-Blue would be more inclined to slide down? My wrist doesn't taper dramatically (at that point), but it's still a thought I had. I like my watch to stay put. You probably can't quite tell in the pic, but my wrist bone is pretty prominent.

I think you can pull it off. Many members here with less than 7" wrists own them.

For me it's exactly the side height pulled me into buying it, I want something different from my dj2, something bold. I cherish the differences between watches.

Sorry to disappoint you but DSSD os not for small wrist. I have 8 inches wrist and even i felt that this watch is too big for me.

I bought one yesterday my wrist is under 7" but then I have owned 46mm watches so the size is not an issue for me. Certain large watch sI can get away with others not a chance, all pends how the lugs sit on my wrist. Its lovely to wear very comfortable. The only concern is height, but I rarely look down upon my wrist. I will dig out some photos and take some to demonstrate.

I've owned 2 DSSD's in the past loved the watch but the main issue was not so much the height but in the narrowness of the case back which tapers considerably and causes the watch to not sit so stable on my wrists,in effect giving the watch a touch of unwelcome top heaviness.

I got a ~17 wrist, and suits perfectly. The thing is, with the SDDS, you have to perfectly size the bracelet, than no problem at all.
And... 44mm, but it wears very 'flat' on the wrist

I have a small wrist and wear 6x4 links on my oyster bracelets.

I do not have a string and ruler to measure my wrist - who is wearing this watch on smaller than 10 oyster links?

What's the norm?

I have not seen one in person. Does it have the glidelock adjustable bracelet for perfect fit all the time?

I have relatively small wrists but this has become my daily. Love it.
I have big shoulders so I suppose depends how you wear it, not just wrist size.

Bracelet fitting is different from whether a big and thick watch looks good on 6.5 inch wrist is another.

Strongly you suggest you try it on. How it looks is one aspect for consideration, whether (or not) you find it comfortable is another. Also, how the watch fits - and loooks is not just dependent on wrist size, but also the wrist shape (flat or round).

Agreed. Even just trying one on is hard to get a good feel for it though, in my experience when I tried it at my local AD. Since the bracelet is unsized, and thus way too large, you only get a sense for the size of the watch itself on your wrist, but not the actual fit (as I'm sure everyone here knows).

Fortunately for me, I have pretty flat wrists, so for my wrist size it's about as good of a situation as I can probably get. Plus it helps that I like to wear my watch a littler higher up, off the bone, and snug.

I dont have big wrists. Here is comparison to Explorer 2 as well. I think Deepsea is very comfortable when properly adjusted to fit in the wrist. I dont think its heavy either, it rather feels in the wrist the way i like.

Wrists not large
Between 1st pic and 2nd, did not move the DSSD in any direction, simply rotated arm for a mirror shot
