New SS Sky-Dweller

I have never liked the watch but I have to admit that looking at the new version with the blue dial it looks great. It's a very useful complication but I'm not sure about the size.

How does it compare to the new Datejust 41 or the previous Datejust II (I used to own one of those in the past)

A bit bigger than a datejust 2 as it is 42mm.

You have to have pretty big wrist to wear this watch. However, it looks really amazing (especially in PM). It is very nice that this watch just became more affordable for wider range of people.

Agree completely...

I'm also one of those wider range of people that it became more affordable for. I would rather have ~3 watches vs 1 Skydweller in PM. Will definitely be getting the new SD50 as a stablemate for my DSSD, then just have to decide on which of the SS Skydwellers to get. The blue is beautiful, just not sure I'm a "blue" wearer.

I really disliked its bulbous look and dial layout. They have cleaned up the dial issue with the baton markers and changing the 24 ring so that is great. Need to try it on again and see if the size is still a turn off.

It is a lot bigger. I tried it on many times trying to make it fit but it's big..
And it is thick. People that are interested have to try it on . The photo made it look like a DJ 41 but it is not

It is bigger than the DJ II by 1 mm and the case is thicker. It has a nice wrist presence and looks amazing in my opinion. Wears a lot like my Explore II, 42 mm.

Its ALOT bigger than a DJ2 and alot thicker. By measurements it might be 1 or 2mm but it looks and feels alot more - I used to own both and I still do. LOL

On the list for a SS blue dial. It will compliment the Batman. Can't wait. And there will be money left over for a PM WG Cellini Dual Time. Three killer watches for the price of one.

unfortunately the lug to lug distance is really too long for my smallish wrist. I love the new model, but a 51+mm lug to lug hangs out a bit too far.

for comparison - my SD4K at 46.25mm lug to lug.

This.... tried on the PM version this past wknd to get a feel for the size. It's a go!!!

It's not often mentioned but a SkD is significantly thicker than DD40 or DJ41

The SKD is stunning on the wrist . The white gold on a bracelet wears deceptively smaller than the yellow gold . Ive never liked Roman numerals , but the WG roman is just superb .

It wears big...the dial is the largest in the line up, see diagram below. And as Mike said, it's really got some thickness going on as well.

I'm curious to see how the steel version wears. I tried on a WG model with the black dial a few months ago and felt a noticeable difference to the BLRO I had worn into the store.

No, it really doesn't. He could go larger, just a little, but it is a good size for him.

I can't get my head around how Rolex being so conservative is jumping so late into bigger watches... just when every other brand is downsizing.

I used to like big watches but now I can't go beyond 40mm and thickness is a big issue for me now, I have gotten used to relatively flat watches, only on the weekends I can wear thicker ones.

Too bad, because I really liked it, maybe in the future they will apply to Datejust formula like the did to the Datejust II now 41, get the proportions right and slim it down.

Absolutely love the new Sky-dweller. It's a dream watch of mine that was previously out of reach due to only being in PM. Still pretty expensive at $14,400 though. I'll have to keep saving, lol.

With my Daytona 116500 at 13mm and a SDc (11660) at 15.5mm so the Skydweller should sit nicely (hopefully)

its the movement and command bezel tbh. nothing can really be done. its basically the same as my pelagos which is 42 mm and fits nice on the wrist. i will be getting one, in white or blue, in due time.

I did this as well, tried on the WG Black dial version and felt it wasn't too big for my wrist! Now the waiting begins lol (and I'm still waiting for my Daytona-C to arrive )

That's funny because I tried a full rose gold on bracelet at the weekend on my 6.5" wrist (for sizing purposes only) and thought it was spot on. I promptly ordered the SS version (and paid a deposit! 3rd on the list! ). Its not as big as everyone seems to think. Its only 42mm, its not Big Ben you know I think it will pretty much fit any wrist.

PS - the full rose gold on bracelet BTW OMG the weight, the presence, the fluted bezel and they way it reflects light blew me away. £35,850 pounds though. Its an incredible watch and will be almost as stunning in SS. Can't wait to get mine.
