Identifying an uber elusive Oyster Perpetual (circa 1930's?)
Hey all,
Long time lurker but new poster - I've exhausted every corner of this forum on my own, and am hoping someone more informed can chime in! I'm looking for any information i can get on this guy - Looking to rebuild over the next few months and I do not know where to start. Oyster Perpetual (Precision) / Ref # 4367 / Horn Lugs / 17 Rubis Internals Any intel would be wonderful! Thank you much in advance <3 Jan |

Doesn't look like an Oyster or a Perpetual to me.
These were made in the 40's and this one has had the dial re-painted. When you get that re-done, it should say Precision under the Rolex, or nothing, if it is not fitted with the Precision movement.

Ouch! Ugly duckling!!
The watch does appear to be a genuine 1940's Rolex Precision manual wind watch, but the dial has been poorly refinished. The watch is not an Oyster Perpetual, and the quality of the dial lets the watch down. However, all is not lost, and a vintage watch restorer could have the dial refinished to a much higher standard. The winding crown is also a replacement, again, easily rectified. Can be made into an elegant swan for not too much investment. |
