What do you think

Admin: I read the rules, and I think the below is fine ( as it's not being sold here.) but please delete if not appropriate with my apologies

Now,

I was looking at this and it appears to be at the upper range of this model.

http://www.thewatchgallery.com.au/pr...2-with-papers/

Now I am not sure but it looks a bit overpriced compared to others on chrono. Am I missing something here? What would be a reasonable price for this?

Should I try to negotiate at all? Or is there issues with it?

I know that Australian prices are different than US (most of us here seem to be in the USA) so that may be why few are responding. That, and the time difference.

You need to be comfortable with the purchase, and if you think it's too high, then move on.

But to answer your other question, yes, you should at least try to negotiate. What's the worse that could happen? He says no.

Thanks mate. TBH I have no idea on which point to start price negotiations.

Check prices on Chrono24 and Union Watch HK (google search them) for an idea.

I have visited that store a few times and generally things seem steep because of limited AD stock here.

Hope that's of some help..

Thanks mate. I checked Chrono24 and it appears that he is asking toward the upper range of prices for one in not as good condition. We will see whether I decide to go with him.

If you buy outside Aus, there is a 10% gst for anything over $1000 and around $75 duties/customs paperwork too.

What do you think of this one ? no papers and new bracelet like the watchgallery one.

Honestly, I don't know much. But the dial looks a bit splotchy and uneven to me. Would that be water damage?

Honestly, for that much $$ I'd just go for a brand new Sub C from an AD which is only $500 more, they're not that difficult to get. Just put you name down at all the dealers in Sydney and pay RRP.

Very true. I was just thinking of getting an item that's been there as long as I. Sentimentality and all that. I did try a new sub in the city couple of weeks ago and it was a bit chunkier than I want. So if new I will be going for a gmt master or yacht master.

Happy to hear other suggestions.

If you look at the watchgallery rolex page 13, there's the same '81 white gold daydate thats currently for sale. The previous buyer took off the remnant caseback sticker and left a massive mark, yet the price is still the same as last time.
Best to buy a new sub from a sydney ad at mrrp.
