September 31st anyone ?

I am concerned about having to change the date on my watch tonight in case I damage it. Could we not change the months to being of 31 days each to minimise wear on our timepieces ? We would gain an extra seven days per year and eight in a leap year. The extra time could be used to complete all the tasks put aside while using the forum.

Sure, just invent a way to slow down the earth's orbit around the sun by a bit. Shouldn't be too hard.

This is another thing I like about my Daytona ...

No need to change the time every alternate month

However, I still spin my Sub's hands round and round every weekend to correct the date

You can always go by Swatch Time.

Or get a Milgauss or Sub ND.

Or get a LOT of watches so that when the date gets one off, put it down until it is correct again.

For that matter, why can't a day be 10 hours, an hour 100 minutes, and a minute 100 seconds? It would make life easier, I would think, like the metric system! Just adjust the seconds/minutes/hours duration to match the earth cycle!

Of course, if you're really into date accuracy:

OR, we could have 13 28-day months! Think of the money the watch companies would make to recalibrate/recreate movements!

Please tell me you are joking, you cannot be serious can you. And what pray to you think the winding crown is for, some-sort of ornament just to be looked at.

i must be tweaky, no i am tweaky - because when i got a tag f1 a few years back i wouldn't change the date because i didn't want to "unnecessarily" open and close the screw down crown. i've relaxed since then, a little.

Just think of all the manual wind Rolex with screw down crowns and the many other brands with the same screw down crown.Opened wound almost daily some for 30 plus years without any problems,Even two Alpha watches that cost well under $100 same daily crown routine for over two years now without any problem whatsoever.Remember a Rolex automatic is only a manual
wind with a auto wind mechanism fitted. But you could wind it manually daily with no harm whatsoever to any Rolex or any other watch.
P.S glad you have relaxed about your watches now.

And with that post, ladies and gentlemen, we have full justification of my earlier thread which stated that the ladies on TRF are more sensible than the men - end of story.....and you can take that to any bloody bank!!

Hardly vitriolic JJ, just stated a plain and very simple fact, thats related to any watch with a winding crown, and has a date function as well. .
