Snap, sub-c bezel issues...
I just turned my diving bezel the wrong way and it popped off... The ball bearing thing in the middle flew out and I don't know if its an easy fix or if it has to go to Geneva for repair? Any opinions? Dammit...

The bezel can be reinstalled without sending back to Rolex but it is recommended to use a fresh hytril gasket each time. That is assuming none of the tiny springs went flying to never be found again. Try calling a few local dealers or reputable watchmakers.

this is a viable option. my first post should be qualified that for me RSC would be the only option. the problem is compounded by losing the bearing.

It looks to me like he has everything. You could replace the ball on the spring, put the gasket back in the bezel's groove, and snap it back on without taking the watch anywhere. But the gaskets aren't meant to be reused so I would always question the integrity/tightness.

I would take it to a good watchmaker in your area.

Yeah, the ting is that the "forth" ball has fallen off and in the end of it it's diagonal, not flat, if that makes any sense. Im not sure how this part should look or even how to reinstall it considering there is a crooked spring where underneath where its supposed to be. I have one AD in my area (the one that I purchased it from) but I would rather not go there considering their poor service. So do you think this is something an other AD would be able to fix in-house considering the watch is still under warranty or does it have to go to Switzerland?

Any authorized Rolex dealer with a watchmaker working on the premises will be able to fix this in 2 minutes flat provided that they have the new gasket part in stock. I don't know how much luck you'll have claiming it as a warranty repair and that might require shipping it away to RSC for warranty work. The cost of this repair is low and probably not worth being without the watch for several weeks or even months.

You can do it yourself but you need to know how to push the wash and bezel down properly... it's pretty easy to damage the washer that goes underneath the bezel and then it won't turn properly

If it were me, I'd send it to RSC unless you found a legitimate watchmaker with access to genuine Rolex parts near you.
I'd be afraid of doing anything myself for fear of cracking the ceramic which would be very costly. |

Hey! Thanks for all the quick responses and concerns. I finally found that the loose cylinder was actually hollow and fitted the loose spring. Once these where mounted then inserted in the hole at seven o'clock I felt more comfortable fitting the plastic insert to the bezel and finally pop on the bezel. It's easy as cake, only requires a little courage. Man does this feel good to have done at home. 1 because it doesn't have to leave me for several months. 2 To save 200 bucks. 3 My bezel pearl is perfectly aligned for the first time :)

Haha, that's awesome! But do get a new gasket when time permits. Now that you know how to do it yourself, you can source one by mail from a forum member or on ebay. I do believe the old gasket will be compromised and not hold as securely.

I hope it gets fixed in a timely manner for you. I'm glad you didn't lose the ceramic bezel as I sure that would be pricey. Wow, the sub naked really does fit that tool watch look.

Sure is a different look, but I'm not at the mental state of this guy to remove my bezel permanently yet ;)
