My DaytonaC needs a friend
Picked up my black dial 116500 in early February and absolutely love it. But I think it's lonely and needs a friend. So...I initially thought BLNR but after trying it on (and trying to fall in love with it), the watch just doesn't do it for me. Then after Basel I started thinking SkyD blue, but not sure I can justify dropping another $14k so quickly after picking up the DaytonaC (at MSRP, but still).
So lately have been leaning toward a DJII, love the blue dial (possibly with Romans), maybe the black, or maybe even the Wimbledon version for just a hint of green in the Romans. In my mind this gets me a sport/tool watch (Daytona) and something a bit more dressy (DJII) but that could still work for casual days. I'm moving to London in a few months and that means suits, ties, etc. Thoughts? DJII a good option? Wait for the DJ41 to hit stores? Save up for the SkyD? HulK? So many choices... |

I personally would pick up a DJ41 if you're interested in a DJ. IMO, this is one home run of a watch.
As far as other options, how about the newly re-designed EXP 39mm? With it's brushed bracelet and mercedes-styled hands, I think this would go perfectly with the Daytona. And a very versatile watch than can be dressed up or down. |

As you can see by my signature I've been through a few Rolex combinations, at most I had five but now down to just these two and very happy, dare I say my next watch might not be a Rolex...

I like the combo above by sc11, pick up a Sea Dweller, maybe it'll speak to you where the Sub fell short.

I would recommend the DJ41 on jubilee with the blue dial. IMHO, it seems like the best dress watch from Rolex at the moment.
The SkyDweller, although it does have a certain bling to it, is a bit too large to fit in dress shirts IMO. |

I say no go on the DJII with the updated SS DJ41 so close. Unless you absolutely must have a dial that isn't yet coming on the DJ41 now.
I say DJ41, LV, or Explorer 2 Polar Congrats on the beautiful black dial 116500! |

I like the Rhodium dial YM mentioned earlier. Actually I like the blue dial YM better but the Rhodium is great looking. YM is still a dress watch but not nearly as common as DJ's.

Sounds like you may be settling for the DJ and the SkyD is the one for you...though the way things are in the UK, good luck getting one in London.
I'd go for a DJ, just make sure you "buy right" and then flip it when you can get your hands on a Sky Dweller. |

The DJ2 blue dial is an excellent option, especially now that its been replaced. Love mine and it won't break the bank

SS Sub or the yachtmaster with the rhodium dial (just enough "pop" of color). Really can't go wrong with any Rolex though.

Thanks! Out of curiosity, what is the defining difference b/w the DJII and DJ41? Other than the updated movement, I don't see much cosmetically that separates one from the other. Maybe some new dial choices? Obviously it will help when the new ones start to arrive... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would look at a DJ II or the DJ 41. Dress it up a little and add to your collection.

DJ is great choice but if you consider of Sky Dweller I think you should be going for it. It's also an upscale model to DJ II or DJ

Sky is the limit!!! Go for the Blue SkyD. Get date, annual calendar, fluted bezel, blue dial, and GMT in one. Also consider the Sub-Dweller.

Yeah I do love the blue SkyD, actually had a thread a couple days ago on trading in my DaytonaC for it. But I think now I'm leaning toward keeping the Daytona and adding a Hulk....can always flip that in the future for the SkyD. Then again if I really fall in love with it when I see it in person, I may just pull the trigger. Never been a huge fan of the Sea Dweller, despite its popularity on here, does look a lot like the Sub esp with the cyclops on the SD50. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Since you bought the black dial you can't really go for so many other sports SS models if you're concerned about balance. The hulk is a good option imo but if you want something more dressy then yes the DJ fits the bill...just wait until you can get the DJ41.
