Advice on a GMT 16710
Hello everybody,
I'm new in the game of watches and especially Rolex. In the past I thought a smartphone was the easiest and cheapest way to look at the time. But after getting in contact with a sub from a close friend, a date-just from my cousin, and a gmt from my uncle i'm starting to get the watch-virus. What do you think of this watch? Do all the parts match the year? It's a P-series and comes with a box but no papers. Approx: $6250 I really enjoy looking at all the posts and hopefully in the future can help other people with knowledge and advice. Walk away or pull the trigger ? Many thanks! Also what is a good website or store to buy other inserts? |

Looks like a nice GMT II. Bracelet dates to 2001 and would be correct for a P serial number. Nice faded insert too. Price is in the ballpark for a nice GMT II 16710. Additionally, if you can't view the watch in person, I would request some additional photos.

Price is about average in terms of asking price. I'd jump on it if you're interested or I would check out some of our Trust sellers. Btw the inserts are now becoming harder to come by.

Agreed with above .... very good GMT II with a nice serif bezel insert, which could be original to the watch. (I think the replacement inserts are non-serif with thinner numbers.)
I'd try to get some side photos showing the case/lugs to determine if/how much it's been polished, and ask about service history. That would cost another $600-$800 if it needs an overhaul. Maybe you could bargain down to $6K. Good luck! |

Seems like a fair price for a nice example. I'd say go for it.

dear springer, henrylee, swish77, sensui, and Sky21,
Thanks for your replies. It was the last push i needed to make the final step. I came back to the watch seller and made a deal with him which lies close to the numbers you adviced what is was worth. Now i'm a very happy owner of a 16710! Cheers! |

Love it, you did great!! Thanks for coming back and posting some post-purchase photos. Welcome to the GMT owners club too, now it'll be tough for any other watches to get any wrist time.
