Batman future value
I am thinking about buying a new 116710 Batman from my local AD for $8500. The AD is in another state but only 45 min away. I was told it could be mailed to me and save on taxes? I guess others do this? I was also wondering if it would devalue alot from the $8500 I would spend?

If you could save money then why not. I don't see why they wouldn't just let you walk out with it for the same price if they are already agreeing to do this, that would just save the hassle. I don't think you'll lose a lot of money on this model, sure it might depreciate and all new things will once they become used, but if you keep it long enough it might even appreciate.

The Batman will probably devalue less than most other Rolex models whilst it maintains its current demand. But it will devalue, and probably more so as the market gets more saturated.
As for the future, who knows what that holds. |

Yes, when a store sends something to another state, they do not bill for state taxes. You are supposed to pay your own state's taxes on the purchase at tax time...
Any new watch will devalue the moment you take the stickers off. Also, by buying from an AD in the first place, you're paying a bit of an extra markup over the new price from a trusted third-party seller, so obviously that's money you could never recover. If you were to wear it for a week and then decide you hate it and sell it right away, though, you wouldn't lose much. In a year or two, or more, who can say? That watch hasn't always been casually available to buy, so re-sale prices have stayed high relative to, say, the regular black GMT. However, it's no longer the flavour of the month, and in the U.S. it's available for those who want one, so you probably can't expect it to hold its value as well going forward. It's a stainless-steel sports Rolex, though, so it'll always keep value better than most other used watches. *edit* Quote:

You should only buy this watch if you like it. Future valuations are at best totally unknown.

If you never sell it it will always be worth as much as you paid for it.
