AP newbie questions
Hey guys,
Sorry if these questions have already been asked but I'm new to AP with a growing interest. First of all, I'm a one watch guy, I have had my Yachtmaster for a while now and as of lately AP has caught my eye. First, I'm looking into 15202 and the 15400 with blue dials. Is this the best way to enter the AP world? Second, I know these are no Rolex, but how well do these refs handle an active lifestyle? Third, are the original AP rubber bands compatible with these? I like to throw the occasional rubber band to fly the watch under the radar. Any recommendations given my scenario? Thanks! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Forgot to mention the AP Diver 15710 as an option as well.

I have a blue YM and it is about the closest you can get to these ROs which are great choices. On both you have to take a bit of care with the bezel but that you already know. You can put OEM rubber straps on them, but not sure I've seen it done here on the current 15202. Here's from another forum.

I think the somewhat pervasive perception that the sub is some superior tough watch above other watches and the royal oak being somewhat fragile are both wrong perceptions that need to be fixed if one is to make right watch choices.

I'm new to AP too and I've had the same question as your third one. And based from the link that was shared, the RO blue doest really look that great on a rubber strap, at least in my opinion. I think it's best to keep it on a bracelet. I wonder how the ROC looks on a rubber strap though, since it has a thicker case and obviously, the chronograph. The diver looks great on both rubber strap and SS bracelet.

i think rubber is compatible but i don't know what AP offers in the way of rubber options but they do have leather options for sure. A few LE 41mm ROC came on rubber so those should fit a 15400 really well. They would fit better for sure than an offshore strap. Once you have a RO bracelet on though, I'm pretty sure your desire to put a strap on it is going to disappear. |

Thanks for this, I'm starting to think the 15400 is the best way to go, well, that and the 15710 that for some reason I'm still interested in. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

My first AP was a Diver and I loved it, but now I'd go for the 15400 with its awesome bracelet, and if you put a strap on it too at times then that sounds perfect.
