Just got a Black Bay Blue

Hi I currently have two subs, a 14060m without a bracelet but with box and papers on an Everest Black Rubber strap and a nearly new (2017) 114060 I also have a 36mm Explorer 1 ref 14270. My small collection is completed by an Omega Moonwatch, the big boxed one with NATO and Velcro straps etc.

I have managed to buy a new (old stock?) Black Bay Blue eta movement on Blue Leather Strap with the Tudor deployant clasp and of course the Tudor NATO for a great price of £1710.00 from a local Tudor/Rolex AD and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I previously had an in house Black Bay Black on a bracelet (the riveted bracelet) and I never gelled with it at all. It was too thick and I very quickly flipped it for the SubC.

I think that I really wanted a Blue eta version all along. I am now questioning whether I want/need the subs & Explorer.

I have an idea to buy a number of alternative straps for the Black Bay and maybe even a bracelet and treat it as my only watch with very regular strap changes for alternative looks. I'm certainly going to be giving this a lot of thought over the next few days. What do you good people think?

I agree when I first put a Tudor on I wondered if I needed a Rolex as well. It's a great watch and I could easily live with it as an only watch. But after putting the Rolex back on after a couple of weeks it feels just a bit more special. Each detail is a little more refined or better finished.. not twice as good to reflect the price but you have to deal with diminishing returns with any category of product.

A Rolex and a Tudor exist very well together in a collection imo.

Congrats. Highly recommend the new RubberB for the Black Bay. Here it is on my BBN ETA.

Initially I'm thinking that I may box my other watches up, put them away and put them out of my mind BUT not sell them.

I want to make the Tudor mine. I've thus far worn it on the leather which I love I'm going to look to get a spring bar tool and try it on the supplied NATO next. I'll then buy some more Spring bars and NATO straps grey and blue etc. I think I'll need 22 mm NATO's although if I'm mistaken somebody please chip in also which other spring bars will I need? Or can I use either the supplied bars from the leather or the Tudor NATO ?

So sorry for all the questions but this watch excites me like no other I've had.

One more quick question and then I'll promise not to for a while. What are people recommending as tools for strap changes?

Once again thanks

Congrats. Great watch. If you are going to stick with leather and natos any strap tool will work. If you are going to be moving a bracelet off and on I would get a Bergeron springbar tool. Also try Eulit Palma perlon and other leather, like these Artisan Strap Company ones work well.

They come up every now and again. But not easily available. I think the last insert I saw was a red and it was a few hundred dollars I believe.

My thoughts are with your wrist at this tough time...... having to swap from adorning a Sub to a Tudor.

The BB ETA with bracelet is really comfortable, I think you should try and get one. I would sell the SubC, too.

Yes I did. The round plots were just screaming for a lollipop second hand and Mercedes handset. Found an old 2824 set off of Ebay and had watchmaker do the swap. Figured with silver plots and silver hands I would be ok with a match. Doing it to the red or black is a little more of a concern to me.

Agree with Adam. Their bracelets are very comfortable. You can generally source a used one for about $400. New they are about $800 from your AD.

I will eventually look to get a bracelet either an original Tudor one for the eta movement watch or maybe a strapcode bracelet (maybe even without end links for a vintage look). Does anyone have any experience of the latter?
