Belated holiday snaps II (Fat duck and Aston)
Sadly cannot take too many pictures at Aston as you sign non disclosures and no pictures inside the production area. Probably the most expensive day of the production line in Aston's living history, I saw no less than 13 of the 99 special edition Vanquish Zagato's being built including one that is not yet even publicly announced(???). To meet personally the staff and how they go about what they do is very cool. The production team drove over a new GT8 with its Akrapovic Titanium exhaust and fired it up for me to enjoy the sound at close range indoors! Also got a look over a lightly camouflaged DB11 Volante (soft top) and got to sit in the new AMR Vantage before it went to Goodwood for its launch.
Wife and I loved our 17 courses and 4.5 hours of Heston Blumenthal skills at the Fat Duck in Bray. I recommend the experience to anyone, if you can plan far enough ahead to get in. The entire month of lunch/dinner sells out in 5 minutes (and is sold 4 months ahead of time). Wine list was probably 100 pages long and ran to 10,000 pounds a bottle (ouch). We also had some lovely Michelin star dinners in Paris, but Fat Duck is just amazing and a stand out.

The Fat Duck is definitely a worth while experience. I was lucky enough to get a lunch cancellation a few days in advance.
I was telling the friend I was going with to not be embarrassing taking loads of pictures of the food. When we arrived, there were two groups of Chinese guests with DSLR's and tripods lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Friends told me the new DB11 with the V8 Merc engine at Goodwood sounded incredible going up the drive. I missed it this year sadly as was still abroad.
Would love to go to the Duck again since they've remodelled and by all accounts made it even better but with even fewer covers it must be hell to book now. |
