gold rush - 116505 v 116508

i'm afraid i've been bit by the gold bug.
having recent acquired a DD36 YG, i think I've been hypnotized by this PM.

I've been actively moving away from traditional sports watches and multi-complications. even gone as far as purging my collection of them, now favoring more traditionally sized pieces.

but dammit if the daytona in full golf bracelet isn't constantly haunting me!
I'm rationalizing it as still within the theme of the collection cuz it's just shy of 40mm and the daytona is an eternally iconic piece.

i thought i had settled on the 116508 YG in black dial. then suddenly came across the 116505 everose. the panda dial is bit more interesting. and i like the fact both bezels have the newer markers (font, size and positioning).

the 116505's can be had significantly cheaper than the 116508 since the former is an older release. appears there is an abundance of them in very fine condition, which is great for me in terms of pricing.

also thought that since i already have the DD36 in YG, getting the 505 in everose would be a good variety to the collection.

any others go thru similar decision before landing on either?

Think the Daytona looks great in rose gold. If I had the funds and more importantly the green light from the wife, I'd be looking seriously at a 116505 to complete my trio. Like you say I would prefer the rose gold over the yellow gold with a YG Day Date already in the collection.

I really like the chocolate arabic dial but the pink diamond baguette dial is really striking as well.

Good luck with your decision!

Personally I think the RG Daytona is a bit Michael K/fashion-y, sorry.

I like RG but I'm afraid it may not stand the test of time. I like traditional appearances for my watches. I'm even debating at a much lower price point with a TT RG DJ and can't convince myself to pull the trigger.
Whatever you choose, they are all beautiful.

this is the one factor that's in my head as well. i believe the Daytona in YG with the black dial would absolutely stand, unsure of the RG.

and right now I'm being highly selective of acquiring 'iconic' pieces that I'd plan (at least for unforeseeable future) to keep forever.

At this price point, I dont think any will go out of style. Rolex is in any flavor is like a diamond and never out of style.

RG has been around a fair time and not gone out of fashion it is a good looking watch. My wife loves her, for me I am more into stealth hence the WG and platinum.

116506 if you're getting a PM Daytona.
