The Rarest AP?

Would love to hear your thoughts on what you think is the rarest AP as in smallest number produced? I'm aware of limited edition boutique waches such as the Swiss edition and Italian which I believe both are 1 of 50 or something like that. Look forward to seeing what you come back and would love to see some pictures if anyone is lucky enough to own one!

the grand comps are the rarest. They seem to make them most often in editions of 3, sometimes in editions of 1 as is the case with this one

the RO perpetual calendar in ceramic AP made for Only Watch 2017 is also an edition of 1

That's crazy, imagine being lucky enough to own one! Would love to know how you would buy a 1 of 1, would have thought AP would offer first refusal to high end clients.

I'm a sucker for the Schumacher, not the rarest I know but I love them, in particular the platinum edition. Would love to see one in person!

thats plenty rare 100. Those older style ROO tend to be quite well liked here, Schumacher editions in particular. Personally though I just can't get on board that style of bezel bolts on any of the older models.

Unique commissions are offered to a very small number of customers. I believe only 3 unique pieces will be made in 2018.

Not sure exactly. Here is the Hoodinkee article on it.

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/ap...eramic-26579ce

Says it is not really an LE piece but because of the difficulty in making it, it will be very rare and hard to come by.

I don't understand editions of 1 I mean the R&D and testing involved they will have gone through enough components to make quite a few. They would have to incorporate that into the price so the buyer pays the price of multiple watches?? Unless they are loss making thing just to show off the company's skill??

This is why it takes such a long time. It will also depend on what is unique about it. So if it is an existing model but given a different case metal for example then should not be too difficult. If it is a completely ground up unique piece like the sapphire RO that was done then it is a whole different ball game.

I remember a hilarious article posted here a while back where jay z was watch shopping in aspen and the people in the store ignored him (many years ago) to focus on another client. Long story short the story ends with him admiring the watch the customer was trying on and then showing him his 1 of 1 AP he was wearing that day

To have a piece unique from a house like AP would be unbelievably special.
