Anyone here into vinyl?

My sister has my Dad's collection of approx 15,000 records. Mostly stuff from the 60s through the 90s. She doesn't play them though. She's has been hauling them around for the past seven years trying to catalogue them but hasn't really done much. I'm not sure why she hangs onto them quite frankly.

I probably have 100 or so records and recently started playing them again. I kind of miss it. The sound quality is fantastic.

My Dad was a musician. He was a teacher and played in a band (rock and roll mostly). I have a couple of his electric guitars. A mid 70s Gibson SG that is well played but in excellent condition and a mid 90s Fender Jag-Stang.

I love spinning vinyl! I have a vinyl collection of over 10,000 1990s Hip Hop/R&B albums, most are 12" singles! I DJ'd at a radio station in San Francisco for 15 years.

I spin strictly on Technics 1200 turntables.

Got rid of them all in the late 90's. I did keep a few that I thought might be valuable. Right now the collection is all CD's.

Bought myself a Wurlitzer one more time vinyl 45 player, stocked it with 50 vinyls and have been ecstatically listening to it. Nothing like it IMO.

I spin on vestax thru vestax pmc 007 mixer with vinyl and serato scratch live. Can't believe they don't make the 1200s anymore.

Not a collector by any means, but I have 40-50 records in my stash. Mostly jazz and classic rock. Also have an old console that's pretty cool. Gives a nice, vintage sound to the vinyl. 😊

I remember those old Radiograms. A mate bought what must have been their last iteration before they ceased to be made - late '60s? Looked more 'modern' than that one.
This thing had BIG speakers and really cranked out some volume - good fidelity too.

That's a great looking piece. I love mid century design.

I thought this thread was going to be about marine upholstery.

I think I must be getting old since music, these days, only happens in the car or on an airplane.

How much are vinyls worth out of curiosity I mean if you have tens of thousands of them that could be a small fortune

I love the sound of analog/vinyl. It's far more 'organic' with a natural warmth that cannot be equaled by digital recordings/reproductions. Combined with a good tube stereo system (and music that one likes) you are in tonal nirvana.

While my LP collection has dwindled over the years, I bought a Linn just to play some older 33rpm records from the late 1960s and early 70s.

Never dumped my records and have three turntables today. Was about to invest in an SME but decided I should save my pfennings for another Rolex. Three turntables is enough. Funnily only started buying CD's at the beginning of the millenium, have over 5,000 but unlike vinyl CD's are not perfect sound forever, they do degrade.
