Mixing Colors (Watch & Wedding Band)

Was speaking about this in another thread and it peaked my curiosity......

Do you guys mix up the colors of your watch and wedding band? Of course silver, steel, white gold and platinum all match fine.....but what about rose gold and white gold? Yellow gold and white gold? I love the look of some colored gold pieces, but my OCD slowly kills me inside to see it matched with my white gold wedding band.

What say you all? (and as always on TRF, pics are welcomed!)

I've got 3 different rings...platinum, rose gold and yellow gold.

Yellow gold wedding band and mostly steel watches, couldn't care less if they match or not and I'm incredibly OCD.

Wedding ring for me is a symbol and it had to be simple and yellow gold.

The watch is a tool and a bit of an accessory and I typically try to match it with other tools and accessories (belt, shoes, bracelet).

I have a platinum wedding band and all white metal watches so far. I have been toying with the idea of getting a rose gold ALS Lange 1. If I did that, I would definitely get the same wedding band in rose gold and just swap it out. Fortunately, Tiffany does make the current wedding band in Rose Gold so it would be an easy mix. If I didn't have the funds to buy a rose gold wedding band, I would probably still mix the RG watch with the platinum wedding band though.

I have a pair of silver go-to cuff links from Tiffany that they don't currently make in rose gold though so that will present an issue.

Does anyone have a recommendable pair of rose gold cuff links?

I sort of agree with you - I don't like mixing the colors. I wound up switching from a gold wedding band to a silver (cobalt chrome actually) wedding band to match my watch. The older I get the less of a fan I am of the color gold anyway, so I'm much happier with the matching look now.

Most guys I know that got married in the last 10 years opted for white gold wedding bands. The trend in the USA anyway is towards white gold/silver/platinum instead of traditional yellow gold

do as mike does, buy a gold toned or gold ring and a silver or tungsten or platinum or similarly toned ring.

My wedding band is titanium. Cheap and tough. It replaced a yellow gold wedding ring that I wore for years but it cracked where I had it resized so I stopped wearing it. My wife bought me the titanium band a few years later and I've been wearing that for more than a decade now. I'm kind of toying with the idea of replacing it with something a little nicer, maybe a platinum band.

My watch is a two-tone Sub so it goes with the titanium band and it would go well with a platinum band too.

Must coordinate IMO.

Plat. wedding band (if worn at all) and steel/strap banded watches with non-gold precious metals.

Certainly one cannot possibly consider mixing SS and yellow gold items.
Clearly they will clash.
If it didn't clash, they would make TT watches.
Oh wait...........they do make them.

I don't think that would bother me too much and I'm pretty OCD. Your white gold ring should match mostly anything (in my opinion I guess).

I stopped wearing a gold bracelet for years after I sold my TT Yachtmaster. Felt so silly having it sit in a drawer that I went and got a YG Daytona and a YG Cartier wedding band.......

I have several wedding bands. WG, YG, and TT (YG/WG). Also a titanium band for when I had a Pelagos.

I generally match metals with my watch and belt buckle. I tend to be slightly obsessive...

my wedding band is Pt and i don't have any issues wearing it with a RG watch.

IMO its different than wearing a RG watch and a Pt bracelet as that would not go together. I don't consider my wedding ring as jewelry though the same as if i wore bracelets or a chain on my neck and they were mismatched metal colors to the metal color of my watch.

I don't wear a wedding band due to occupational hazards. If I did, it would probably be a very simple and plain one as I would not be overly concerned whether it matched the dial of a Rolex.

I lost my original band years ago so I've got several rings in different metals now. I usually try to match my watch but not a big deal.

i don't have an issue with mixing metals watch/ring as I mentioned earlier. I did ask my wife in passing this morning if she would be ok if i did want to get a second or third ring to match watch metals and that was a non starter. She is supportive of my watch habit, but the multiple rings would be a bridge too far in her eyes.

So i guess now ill buy another watch instead of getting two more rings

My thoughts too

If you bought multiple after getting married what's special about them?

I misplace my rings so often I've moved to $20 titanium ones off amazon. Wear every watch combo with it. Haven't worn my platinum wedding band since the wedding. Would hate to lose that one.
