New 116500LN at the RSC
My one month old Daytona C stopped running Monday morning after being worn the entire day before. Perplexed, I wound it and a few hours later it stopped again, so I took it over to the RSC in Beverly Hills. They told me that they couldn't find anything wrong with it after their "diagnostic" test so they needed to open the watch up and quoted me a two week turnaround time. Needless to say I'm pretty disappointed and missing my watch badly, but also curious as to what it could be. Has anyone encountered this issue with their new Daytona or any new Rolex for that matter?

Bad auto winding mechanism? Bad mainspring?

Sounds like it could be a mainspring issue.

Sorry to hear it. My 116500LN is less than a week old and +6 seconds per day. Wonder if QC is starting to slip a bit.

That would bother me but it's bound to happen with some. Hopefully it's a quick turnaround and back on your wrist as good as new.

I have a daytona that was bought new from an AD and it stopped running after being fully wound all the time for about 3 weeks. Since then it hasnt stopped. Maybe there is some type of break in period?

No break in period it all depends on whatever power-reserve had in the mainspring to start with.Even if worn it does not mean you are winding the watch especially if not active say sat a desk. The Daytona has a longer mainspring so needs at least 60 full crown turns clockwise only to fully wind mainspring.

Set it against an atomic clock, then compare it to the same in say a week, divide seconds out by 7 to get an average seconds per day gain or loss.
My new 116500LN is within a second per day. I got it about 5 weeks ago. As yes I pay attention to how accurate it is because that's just how I'm wired : ) So accuracy is important to me. Love the watch!

If a new Daytona runs +6 seconds a day, long term, that to me is an issue. Call it QC, call it what you will, but it is not right based on current advertised Rolex specifications. While it is within COSC specs (-4/+6) Rolex advertises a +2/-2 on all their movements now if I recall correctly. Would I notice the difference, heck no!! I never check any of my watches. Did notice my old Tudor sub was off about 3 minutes after 60 days on the winder. And it badly needs a service. Don't think it's been done since 1992. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Good Morning! In your signature you have listed a 116710LV. What's that ? V usually stands for Verte ? A ceramic GMT with green bezel ?

Yea that's where my head is as well. In the grand scheme of things who cares but then again they earn their price by being the best so it really should be within -2/+2. I was thinking of going to NY RSC but I just read a story today on this forum that makes me cringe. Hoping the OP of this thread has better luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I had the same problem with an Explorer I bought some years ago. I sent it Dallas and they serviced it and it still did the same thing. I sent it back several more times and finally had to get the manager directly involved. Turned out the complete upper plate had to be replaced along with all the parts. This took a total of 11 months to resolve. What was interestesting is the RSC kept sending it back to me each time certifying it passed QC with this malfunction. I hope you aren’t going to have this same type of issue. |

I've had exactly the same happen to my 2 month old 116500LN today, its stopped three times and I've fully wound it manually each time (40+ turns).
It looks like it'll be visiting an RSC tomorrow :-( |

New 116500LN at the RSC

Just picked it today after 10 days at the RSC. The service receipt didn't list out the issue so I asked the front desk associate if he could get more specifics, however even after pulling the paperwork in the back all it said was that the movement was checked and lubricated. QC has it running at -0.4 seconds. Hopefully all will be well now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Glad to hear you got it back. Funny, I thought they would offer more information on what was done. Hopefully someone here with more experience will chime in. But the important thing is that you finally you can enjoy your new daytona!! Indeed a beauty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
