Have you ever had this happening at an AD?
Hello folks!
I called the AD where my SO bought my Rollie 2 months ago to check if they had someone that could regulate my DJ (it's steadily 14 seconds fast regardless of how much activity and whether or not I take it off (crown up, down,...) at night). The person with whom I talked checked with their "Rolex specialist" on site who apparently said that up to two minutes PER DAY (!!!) was ok. [I explained to her that the COSC tag attached to my watch meant that it had been tested for 16 days.... -4/+6... you all know this] My question is: anyone ever was confronted with so great a misinformation from an AD? If so, how did you handle it? She ended up saying that they would have to send it to an RSC if it needed to be regulated (I guess she was doubting my -4/+6 per day, which means I probably need to bring a copy of a document supporting my claim... any suggestion on a website?); opening the watch at the store, she said, would void my warranty. My BN watch also had some small marks (I hadn't read JJ's recommendations when my SO and I went to the shop and found them later) and I want them to be responsible for any RSC charges to polish it to how it should be (i.e., NEW); is that reasonable to expect? How would you handle it? In addition, when I first got the watch, it didn't have any sticker on the back or the bar code on the side of the case; is that something I should bring up? Last, can the RSC take out a fixed link off an oyster band at 6 o'clock (so the clasp would fit perfectly on my wrist)? In advance, thanks, Dave p.s. My apologies if my questions are not linear... I just found out I'd get a break in my day tomorrow to drive to that AD (~1hr away). |

Dave, Rolex can take a fixed link out. Some ADs are loathe to open a watch on warranty and will send it to RSC for regulation. (to be honest if that's what their Rolex "specialist" said I'd WANT it to go to RSC.
Sometimes you run into that. I wore a 1680 into an AD one time. The nice young lady behind the counter asked me if that was the Navy Seal watch????? I just smiled and said no, they have NS on the caseback. |

What do folks think about asking the AD to take care of the RSC polishing charges?
Regarding the stickers, should I be concerned? In advance, thanks! |

And it's too late to bring up the sticker issue.

Thanks for the info (I unfortunately wore the watch and it didn't come with the plastics on it either anyway...)
