DJ Original Value?

Just curious, I recently inherited this 1984 DJ, stainless bracelet with 18K white gold bezel. Does anyone know what they would have sold for new back then? I have the box but not the receipt. A business associate of my dad's bought it for him in the Amsterdam airport, he probably kept the receipt as a business expense.

Thanks

You need to post better pics and not sure you'll get a value here. Read the rules. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=263244

DJ Original Value?

He's asking about the original purchase price from over 30 years ago, I don't think that's the same as asking for a current valuation.

A DJ 16014 back in 1986 retailed at £1095,have not got a price for 1984 but expect around the same price.

Read my question about the original cost, that rule is irrelevant to it.

The serial might indicate 1984, but it may have been purchased a year or two later.
Anyway the price of a SS DJ in '87 was £853.
Regards

Easy Paul7. Actually, you could have done a search on this 'thing' called the INTERNET.

"It takes fewer than 5 minutes to research almost any Rolex model and find what they are being sold for across the Internet. You are urged to search the Forum Sales Board if you are seeking an estimate of value for your watch, or search the Internet for prevailing values. TRF is neither a shopping service for you, nor is it a valuation service as value varies widely depending on condition and local economies."

You must be having a bad comprehension day, I've said several times here I'm asking what the ORIGINAL cost might have been, not the CURRENT one. Comprende?

Is that a white gold bezel or a SS machine turned bezel? That would impact the price at time of purchase.

.

Are you sure you have a white gold bezel (model 16014) ? I seem to see an engine turned bezel in steel on your picture (model 16030).

Anyway cost for a 16030 on a jubilee in 1984 was 677£ in UK (938£ for a 16014) , 2200 deutsch mark in Germany (3000 dm for a 16014), 122500 pesetas in Spain (161000 ptas for 16014), 1660 chf in Switzerland (2170 chf for 16014). I don't have US dollar prices for 1984.

Only 2 things I can say to this thread.

1) Let it go, move on. it's only an internet message board, you'll both probably never meet and have nothing to do with each other for the rest of your lives.

2) At these prices, why didn't I buy much much sooner.

Play nicely

You are correct, I stopped by a Rolex dealer today and he confirmed this is a SS bezel, no gold. Model 16030.

Thanks. Kind of cool it's worth 2-3 times what it sold for, not adjusting for inflation of course.

Trying to help you out my friend before you look any sillier. You don't even comprehend the OP question. I do appreciate the ones who did have something to add to this thread though.

What does that have to do with this thread?

At least that showed me that this watch was bought at the Amsterdam airport in 1984

Price for a 16030 on jubilee was 2825 florins in Netherland after the price increase that occured Jan/Feb 1984 there.

He probably paid less if he bought it at the airport , without tax. You just need to find what was the VAT level in 1984 in Netherland.

Not often in life does one encounter a situation whereby the person at fault comes back with 'fighting talk.'
Personally, I would have made a joke about having a bad watch day and said my bad for not comprehending your question. I'm certainly no Freud, but someone has a complex.
