Fair trade or nah? Dj41+cash for a SD43

I'm being offered 5,000$ And a brand new Datejust 41mm(126300) for my SD43. Is this a fair trade?

One would think the value of this trade would depend on how much you like both watches. Perhaps someone on here can decide that for you.

Dollar wise that's a fair trade, question is how much do you want the DJ 41 vs the SD43?

this is the most important thing.

While i do think its a fair trade, i don't think it's n amazing deal or anything. I prefer the DJ41 with fluted bezel. Not that you should prefer the fluted, but it's a more valuable watch. If it were fluted I would say you're looking at a better deal.

Market Value on the SD43 is sticking around $13k BNIB. Depending on the condition of yours, let's just just say it's worth $11.5k. The DJ can be had via trusted seller for about $7k. $7k + 5K, puts you at $12k. It's a safe deal to make if that's the watch you'd prefer to have.

Also, will the watch come directly from an AD with your info on the card?

OP is in the US so availability should also not be an issue

Not a fan of the smooth bezel. So no for me.
SD43 are pretty hot now. Unless you can find one at the dealer, they are usually selling around $12500 new. Since yours is used. Maybe back to the original sticker price of $11350.

Datejust 126300. You can probably get one around $6500-7000. Plus $5000 cash
so monetary value. It is about the same. It depends on which watch you like more.

If you're not stuck on the SD43 (same goes for DaytonaC) it wouldn't be a bad idea to let go of one (if you have it) for its current pricing, then to pick one up when the initial hype dies down and prices follow suit.

Seems a little cheap for a SD43. There should be $7,000 in cash plus the DJ41 coming your way.

It is a fair deal, money wise.
You probably paid around 10k for the SD43, right?

To be clear, when I say $5k richer, I don't mean the deal you were offered with the DJ41– I mean if you were to sell it straight for cash at above MSRP.

As long as you don't blow the $5,000 paying bills or something silly like that......it has to be used to finance another Rolex!

Retail on the SD43 is $11,300, plus tax. Gray market ones are $12,000 and up, which isn't a bad deal when you figure the tax savings. Supply is just starting to loosen up but I don't think we'll see SD43's under that for another year. Add in the scarcity that's still plaguing the market and that's why I think $7K plus the other watch is more like it.

If the watch is brand new but with no warranty, I'd pass on the deal. Reach out to Takuya, see what kind of trade deal he'll give you. I'm sure he can source you the exact DJ you want, will get you squared away with a proper warranty and may be surprisingly close to the same deal you're getting if not better.

the DJ is one of the models that lose the most on resale. Its not like sport watches that sell for pretty much the same price used with minimal loss.

The DJ on the other hand will lose a tonne for a SS watch.

I'm surprised you're willing to let it go fast.
