So What Is it? Says Older, But Is Newer!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-SUBMARINER...d=p3286.c0.m14

Not saying he's a bad seller at all. In fact see alot from him..
Just that this watch is listed as 1970, with original dial etc.
But actually has Luminova dial, and the R code serial # make it on or about a circa 1987.
Big Difference, No?......
Any ideas? Steve, Orchi, Springer, Ladies and Gents?

I see what you mean. Curious to see how this makes sense. The seller appears to be reputable.

R series were released around 1987-1988 which should make the dial tritium as you have observed - therefore the dial should not read "Swiss" at the bottom which indicates a later luminova dial. This dial might be an original dial but doubtful if it is original to this Submariner. Also, he states the watch is from 1970, which isn't possible with an R prefix in the serial number.

Someone might want to contact the seller about these discrepencies as the watch is not as described.

Good observation "some pair."

...hey everyone...

...better take a GOOD LONG look at the dive extension. Appears to be COUNTERFEIT. This one stands out like a sore thumb.

...albeit, everything else looks okay...other than the dating issue.

Stan.

Stan.

The seller now states the watch is from 1987. The band is the correct vintage sub band (notched-clasp version of the 93150) but the diver's extension with the scrollwork/coronet is a "knockoff" as Stan observed. The round opening in the coronet is indicitive of the fake crowns, which is unlike the oval opening found on genuine coronets.

Good catch on the diver's extension Stan - counterfeit diver's extension on a genuine band.

Thank You Sir, and everyone for all the feedback.
Seller added 1 liner to auction just above the pic that it's a 1987 piece...Good luck to the high bidder on getting this questionable item...
