Personally I am no fan of that kind of fade. I prefer a faded blue and a crisp red rather than the opposite. If not evenly faded.
For 500€ I think the most important thing is that you get what you like the most. |

Sure, in the big picture what does it matter if it is what you want.

Yes, it's worth an extra 50 Euros, especially if it's an original faded fat font versus a service Pepsi insert. What's the total price?

I like it, if you like it buy it. You're splitting hairs with your 50 euros, there is no MSRP on vintage... negotiate...
Also, I dont follow the "jeans with holes" metaphor. 1. if you dont like patina and fade then you probably are in the wrong forum. Even a true NOS piece will likely have some dial/hands patina 2. This insert would not be jeans with holes it would just be faded jeans, something Im guessing we have all bought. Within the last year. |

I would spend the extra, in the big scheme of things it's not a great deal of money for that patina, and should you decide to sell, provided it's genuine, you should recoup your money.

How much are the inserts selling for ?, If you don't mind letting me know . I know lots of collectors who absolutely will pay premium money, for faded inserts etc & if that's what appeals to you then its worth every penny paid . I think new inserts from AD in UK are about £75.00 . But here's a thought, Wouldn't you prefer a new insert, & then all the Patina is down to you wearing the watch over time . Just a thought .

Fortunately you can source something period correct fairly easily. Also, I'm not sure how patient you are but a good 20+yrs to get a little fade is a long time to wait. |

Yes its a Luminova piece with WG inserts & still waiting for signs of Patina to appear . One of the best things about the 4 or 5 digit series GMT ,is the versatility & the ability to change inserts as the mood takes .

Thanks everyone for the comments. It's selling for 230 euros and claimed to be faded naturally. Mine watch is a 16700 with tritium dial.
For guys dissing me off on 50 bucks, please be aware that everyone's budget is different. N the fact that i can get a service insert for just $100, make it a legitimate issue to consider to relatively significant premium. Nonetheless, all your comments are helpful. Thank you :) |
