Possible Day Date 40 dial change?
Hi, was wondering if Rolex still allows dial changes on Day Dates? Did it a few years ago on a 36mm Day Date through the AD to them. Now I am thinking about a change in my rose 40mm. Please let me know if anyone has done it fairly recently in the U.S.. thank you!

It is still possible in the UK and several other countries so it should be same in the US as well. However not may dial options available for DD40 compared to 36 mm Day Date

I investigated this on my old Datejust (current model). The pricing seems to depend on what you're swapping for what. For instance, they were going to charge me (about) a grand to go from a champagne diamond dial to a black diamond (same category) but something like MOP was a much larger upgrade price.

Thanks for the reply. I wonder what a stock dial to a Roman dial would cost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Should be possible across the RG's dials, which dials are you wanting to swap?

That's mine. If you change you'll notice the dial is never the same twice in a day!

It will involve a hands change too as your current configuration has luminous hand. Rolex won't let you retain luminous hands on a Roman dial

Consider a trusted independent watchmaker for the dial swap. Easier to get your original parts back and they'll let you keep the original hands with the new dial. Rolex ADs have strict rules about this stuff while independents are more flexible. And cheaper too usually.

Bumping this old thread to see if anyone has done this recently. I'm getting conflicting information, depending on who I speak to, at RSC in New York.

They will allow it. When I was at RSC I overheard a customer asking for a dial swap on a DD40. It was like $1200 AUD or around that.

If it’s of any use, I changed my day date 2 rose chocolate roman dial to the black diamond / ruby dial back in November at the U.K. service centre. I’m under the impression that as long as they offer that model they will do it. If I wanted say a dial that goes with a white gold they will not. They will however charge you for a service and polish and reserve the right any extra parts needed on top of the dial

Does anyone here have the means to order a dial for the swap? Am trying to source the blue batons dial (below) from the 118206 for my 18239:

Not at all, it was all in including service and polish about £7k considering I bought the watch for £17k pre owned makes my total £24k. It was all done within 3/4 weeks half the time quoted. I will stress however the price they quoted me over the phone didn’t include VAT or the service initially. After a bit of pressure explaining that the price for the dial was more than a new watch they agreed to give me my old dial / hands and a few other bits and bobs, but they made me work for it !!!!
Yes it’s a lot of money but It’s gone from not wearing to wearing it more than ever so I am happy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Just to add when I asked about the wave or the black dial they quoted about £500 (I presume not including VAT and service to put in) I’m not sure if they quoted me wrong as I only was interested really in the diamonds and ruby. I didn’t think that sounded too spiteful for an equivalent dial if you wasn’t happy on a watch that expensive

Possible Day Date 40 dial change?
I know it’s not a Day-Date, but my GMT2 dial replacement during a full service at the Dallas RSC was $500. Total for the work was $1500, including the dial, new hands, seals, pressure test, polishing, etc. They also replaced the Pepsi bezel insert.

Bumping this thread. Has anyone swapped the blue dial into a yellow gold 40mm DD?
