Silly Question about watch storage box
So I recently invested in a watch jewelery box because I only have one wonder and it seemed kind of cheesy to keep the watches in Rolex boxes in a dresser drawer. I have a smaller wrist and when I go to close the bands around the center core it feels very smug to the point where I feel I have to squish it a bit to close the clasp. I am concerned that continually doing this could stretch the band, especially the oysterflex bracelet on the Yacht Master. Am I over thinking or could this happen? I am thinking about just buying a second winder with one of those soft pillows or perhaps using the center core form the Rolex boxes, although they are snug on there too.

Rolex boxes are not convenient as storage units - IMO.
Agree that the "pillow" in the boxes are not a small-wristed wearer's friend. You may want to close your bracelet first, then squeeze the pillow into the watch. That's IF you absolutely must use those pillows. |

For watches with easily adjustable link, you could expand it, like Sub, Sea Dweller

I just leave my watch on my nightstand when it's bedtime for me and in the morning put it back on. If I need to "store" it, I have a small Oakley watch vault I picked up a couple years ago that is a good companion for my watch, especially when traveling.

Always close the clasp before putting the bracelet around the pillow.

This is what I do everyday when I store any of my 2 Rolex watches I wore that day. It's harder to close clasp when the pillow is there since it's wider than a wrist. I close clasp. Squeeze the pillow. Release and the pillow fills up the bracelet just fine. |

Is it Apple with their industrial strength super flexible colourful "infinitely" adjustable fluoroelastomer bracelets or is it Rolex with their high performance double Titanium Nikel alloy blades and some fancy patented ala "Nike Air Cushoning System " that forms the skeletal frame within the black elastomer bracelet.... Both brands claim patency over their over- engineered high termal resistance bracelet design so I'm pretty sure "overstretching the elastomer" is almost impossible up to the upper limit of tolerance, lets say a couple of million times of continuous flexion/extension testings.Putting it in another way, overstretching is simply "not gonna happen" in a couple of generations ! So who wins the battle of the elastomer bracelets? Are the Americans inventive creative minds better than the Swiss masters or is it the other way around... |

Squishing is perfectly fine, the watch needs to securely grip the pillow or holder so that it doesn't knock about it its slot or against another watch when the jewellery box is shifted or moved.

Thanks everyone. The pillows in this box are shaped like a race track and are squishy to a point but then expand oud full when released. I just wanted to be sure that the constant pressure on the bands, especially the Oysterflex which has no adjustment, would not stretch them. I can, of course, move the band out when I put them on the pillow, but then it is a pain to get them to fit again exactly. Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks. They fit pretty snug in the box and I don't move it often, but these pillows just seemed a bit snug. Perhaps after repeated use they will soften up.

Could you leave the bracelet open?

Why not get something like this that's high quality, and holds multiple watches?
This is usually what I do. I put mine on a soft, thick cloth when I take it off at the end of the day, and if I'm traveling (or with two watches), I bring the CASEBUDi. |
