verify bezel of Exp II 16570
Hey watchfam,
So I'm in the market for a 1999 Explorer II and came across a listing. I'm still awaiting additional pictures for the item but just want extra sets of eyes in verifying the dial/bezel. The bezel fonts/font position look cryptic to me...I cant tell if its an aftermarket one or not. Thanks guys. |

The bezel seems off to me, but I'll leave the final call to the experts. I'm curious as to why the seller photographed the minute hand obscuring the 24 hour GMT hand? Yes, it happens once every hour but I would definitely want more photos. That said, in my limited experience so far, I'd say anything that gives you pause should make you pause. You've done the right thing by asking. Hold off for more expert opinions.

Make sure that you can check the hand stack with a clear pic of the 4th hand.
That's an older bracelet with non SEL's and a holes case, but for sure you need more pics |

Yeah! I find it odd as well, thats why I'm requesting for more pics. Its Govberg though...I've heard nothing but good things about them.
Also, how should the hand stack order be? What should I look for when verifying hand stacking? Yep, I actually prefer the older non SEL bracelets. I find that they hug my wrist better. Thank you |

The 4th hand (gmt hand/red hand/24hr hand) should be on top of the hour hand
Some of the numbers on the bezel look very thin, possibly the lighting in the pic, or maybe the bezel in those areas has been over polished thus "thinning out" the numbers. Govberg are legit but you can find that watch under $5000 all day long. Try watch recon dot com, type in what you want, set the days in options, there's loads of them around. GL |

Is Govberg the same entity as another popular, florida based online seller? I was looking at that very same watch on a different site just a moment ago. They also have a black dialed version where again, the minute hand is positioned to obscure the 24h hand which I thought was odd....

verify bezel of Exp II 16570
Just from those 2 pics. they look fine, but imo they both had been touched up. The polar' bezel most likely had been brushed n refinished. It looks to clean n the numbers r thin. As to the black one, probably the paint had washed off n had been repainted crudely.
I blame it on the autoconnect. |

Minute hand should be above the GMT hand on the Exp 2.

Based upon the picture I wouldn't touch that watch. Period.

The black dialled one looks like it's been to war. Neither seem especially bargain priced considering their condition. |

I'm no expert but those watches do not look legitimate. I wouldn't be found dead wearing them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the 16570 just have the word "Swiss" at the bottom of the dial, not "Swiss made"?
The bezel, although fixed, looks slightly misaligned- as does the cyclops. Maybe it's just me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Thanks guys for your input. Glad I posted here.
I decided to go with a 1997 one instead. Swiss only 16570s are what I was looking for I believe, and they were all A serial numbers dating them to 1999. My criteria were as follows... - Holes Case, luminova dial, non-sel bracelet Ended up settling for tritium, which is fine, I'm open minded towards a possibility for patina. |
