Vintage Heuer Chronos - reliability / maintenance?

Hi All,

I know of On-the-dash and other Heuer sites... Just thought I would pulse my TRB brethren as well.

I am thinking of a 60's / 70's simple 1- register chrono...35.5mm or so, ranging from $4,000 - $5,500 or so. I know they've all appreciated a fair bit lately. No more poor man's Daytona.

What's the skinny on time keeping, finding a watchmaker, parts, reliability etc? Are these the Fiats of the Vintage watch world, or are they close to a Rolex in soundness?

I don't have much in the true vintage space...and I like to actually wear my watches - not simply send them round the world for tinkering.

Thoughts on actual experiences appreciated.

Thanks!
