I'd never heard of Montgomery Gentry until about a week ago when I was doing some research on some other artists and the band name came up in the search.

It's really sad news.

I went to the University of Kentucky with him. I used to go watch him play in the late 1980's and early 1990's at a small bar called Larry's in Lexington. He was a very nice guy, completely down to earth and really talented. I did not know him well, but used to buy him a beer once in a while when he was playing. Truly a class act and he will be missed. Sorry to hear this news. RIP

The helicopter went down a couple hundred feet from my home. Local pilot died as well. This really hit home, as we watch the planes and copters fly over our house every day. We were planning to sit on our front porch and take in the music Friday night. RIP Troy.
