My next door neighbour gets the call!

So it's 8pm and I'm sitting relaxing reading TRF on my phone and there's a knock on the door, annoyed I answer and it's my WIS next door neighbour. "Can I try on your Sub please mate" he asks, sure of course. While he puts it on he explains that our localish AD (Goldsmiths Merry Hill) has called him and offered him a SS Sub that had come in today. They in fact had a Sub and a Sub Date in, the Sub Date had sold and they were going down their list and offering the Sub to customers, my next door neighbour was the first to pick up!
This was his first Rolex purchase and he asked me to go with him, we rushed down and within minutes he had purchased one of the most iconic watches in the world
I also had a nice surprise, because I've taken several friends into this particular AD they gave me a bottle of wine, the new Rolex catalogue and a Rolex coffin for my watch, which I thought was very nice of them

I experienced the pleasure of being involved in buying a new Rolex without having to shell out thousands of ££££, which was most enjoyable :-)

No wrist shots of my friends new watch but I did get rather attached to this lovely gold Sub

Nothing quite like the excitement of travelling to see and buying a new watch.

Makes me feel like a kid at Christmas

This particular one is a stunner. Always loved the blue + sunburst. Looks amazing on my bluesey and this is one big leap up!

Great story, glad your neighbour is loving it.

Why miss a chance to ogle an AD's inventory? That's a trip I'd be happy to make! And who knows? Maybe you see something for yourself in the display cases. :)

I'd be in a lot of trouble if I lived near a WIS. Too much recurring temptation and encouragement to spend. You practiced amazing restraint by keeping the wallet closed while accompanying your friend to the AD. ;-)

Congratulations to your neighbour. A couple of my neighbours are WIS, one has a Breitling Transocean and the other is going to try and pick up an SD43 while travelling in December.

Thanks very much for the reply guys My neighbour is enjoying his Sub but is yet to remove the stickers, delaying the pleasure I think

Yes Mike is correct, my friend did indeed buy an 114060 and the gold Sub was mine to drool over for just a few minutes.

It is pretty cool having a WIS as a neighbour, always plenty to chat about over the fence
