Double Incoming!!! (Sort of)
Yesterday was a good day!
Anyone who knows the UK watch market at the moment (especially Rolex) is a frustrating thing My Rolex purchase history is with Goldsmiths, who i've bought a Sub C and 36mm Datejust from within the last 2 years. When I enquired about a Daytona C a while back they pretty much laughed in my face so feel my business clearly isn't valued so have voted with my feet and bought from another AD who have bent over backwards to help me (including staying open late!!) so i've severed all ties with Goldsmiths and am now kicking myself as to why I went there in the first place as in relationship terms am having to start over. I came away with a huge smile on my face having purchased/Ordered 2 watches: 1 x Sub C LV (aka The Hulk) with a 6-12 month wait So to scratch the itch I bought a watch i've been coveting for some time, the IWC Portofino. This watch is truly stunning, I mean gorgeous! No picture i've taken even comes close to doing it justice unfortunately. Elegant & timeless. IWC doesn't seem to have a particularly good reputation on here, not too sure why? They have many nice models however my freakishly girly small wrists limits my watch selection and many IWC's are just too big for me. This should keep me happy during the looooong wait for the Hulk Now, some pics.... And finally, a group shot: |

Nice collection. Curious, why would Goldsmith's laugh in your face upon inquiry of a watch?

Because the UK watch market is so completely and utterly ridiculous at the moment the Goldsmiths staff are on a complete power trip. They quoted me a 25 year wait (yes you heard that right, 25 YEARS) for a Daytona. It is pretty much impossible to buy any SS Sports watch in the U.K. at the moment without being placed on a waiting list. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nice IWC, btw. I've got my eye on a vintage IWC as we speak. |

FYI, it's a 521 from 1969, rose gold. They want £2995, which I think is a bit too much. It's gorgeous, though, and just look at those lugs!

If you plan on keeping it forever then it's not too much. If you plan on flipping in future I'd probably be more comfortable at £2,500. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Good advice. So many watches, so little money.
