Will the BLNR hype die down?

Hi guys,

Got my BLNR arriving tomorrow and i'm super happy, although i have paid well over £RRP from a reputable "Pre-Owned' dealer. 2017 model unworn with stickers intact.

Now my worry is with me paying £1000 over sticker price, what if the so called "hype" dies off for the BLNR? What if supply starts to meet demand in the near future? Will i regret paying so much?

Obviously at the moment any SS sports models are extremely hard to come by at AD's, but how long will it be like this? I guess nobody really knows...

For some of us the BLNR was never a choice. Congratulations!! Doubt I'd pay +1K on any watch. Regardless, it's your watch and congratulations on getting a grail!!!

I think it already has here in the States. David had 3 up for sale last week. He has one for sale now. Tony has 2 for sale now. None were marked up.

Is there Hype. Just seems like a nice watch that people like on their wrist. Watch has been around for awhile now. Not nearly like the Daytona.

BLNR is the most beauty combo SS from Rolex for a reasonable price, sporty all the way and dressy all the time. The only minus in my opinion is the easy scratched PLC, but at the same time is the heart of its beauty. To pay £1000 extra is not a big deal if the waiting time to get in your city is > 3 months

Well, what's done is done so I'd just enjoy the new watch. I've not been in an AD for a few months, but the BLNR has been relatively easy to locate for some time in the States. Great watch and congrats.

I would have spent the £1000 on a weekend trip to a country where they aren’t so hard to get.

Honestly I think its a perfect watch. The day and night, blue and black combo is perfect. IMHO the colour is the best there ever has been, over the old and new BLRO.

The current BLRO is in white gold, other than that the BLNR IMHO is a far better watch in terms of looks.

I was in Dubai recently and was offered one from an AD whilst making an enquiry about the SD4K. If i was you i would have spent the additional money on a holiday and picked one up whilst out there.
saying that, don't let the money spoil a grail achieving moment..... i've wasted more than that doing some stupid things in my time and have nothing to show for it!

guys wait ..

in EU retail price of BLNR is about 8300,
my Country has the wort taxes in EU ,
and BLNR's retail here is 8500 (I paid yesterday 8500)

so , if you Boothy84 pay 1000 over , you'll get it as the same price as whole EU

are you sure there is 7340 the price ??
if does , now I understand why sellers and "grey playrs" from UK could give the best prices on CHRONO24

I will never pay over retail for a watch. I don't need/want a watch that bad. Few months waiting is fine for me. But I guess UK is different. 9 months to over 1 year wait for the BLNR. Only you can answer if it is worth the extra $1000.

The BLNR IS £6550 in the UK if you can find one at an AD (which you cant) if you wait in a list you can possibly get one in a few months

In that time the price may well go up to around £7200 with 10% rise

Of course its easy to live in the US and say you wont pay over list when they are everywhere but cost a lot more to buy at rrp, in reality there is probably very little difference

Congratulations on the watch, enjoy it and forget about the cost

Don't give it another thought . .. just enjoy a great watch.

So, you paid £1k over retail for what undisputedly is one of the most wanted Rolex's ! If you keep it for a few years you will most likely get all your money back and have enjoyed ownership.

If you'd have bought most other brands you would have lost thousands as you walked out the shop

Just enjoy ..don't let anyone spoil that for you. You've probably earned it.

It’s cost of the trip, plus they’re more expensive in every other country. If that’s a non-EU country, also factor in VAT....

Waiting it out, or buying at premium in the UK is still the best way.

Enjoy the watch, it's a beauty. Don't beat yourself about paying over RRP for the watch, I did the same thing for my recent BLNR and Hulk purchase.

As some have stated, firstly these models in UK are near impossible to obtain via an AD so if you want the watch the only way to get one is via a Grey and accept paying a premium. My view was a price increase is likely to happen, even if it's not for another 6-12 months, you still won't have the watch via an AD within that time and therefore you might as well go via the Grey. If in 12 months you get the call from the AD the chances are you would pay a similar price, if not more due to a likely increase!!

As for going abroad to obtain the watch, I don't see this as an option, not taking the price of the holiday into the equation, Rolex prices in the UK are one of the cheapest in the world at present (just a shame we haven't got any)! I was in Spain last year and was offered a Hulk from the AD, by the time I made to the Euro to Sterling conversion it was still cheaper to buy in the UK via a Grey dealer!!

Anyway, when you open that box tomorrow you won't even care if you had paid double RRP!!

Just enjoy and wear in good health.

Congratulations!! I have a BLNR and it’s an amazing watch.

I was in Edinburgh a few weeks ago and both ADs had no sports at all....not even the usual EXP2 and Milgauss etc.

Hamilton and inches were good to talk to and helpful, Laings seemed a bit more “fake” if that makes sense. The lady I spoke to spoke about steel sports pieces like they were unicorns.

Saying that, both ADs were swarming with tourists who were actively buying Watches.

I guess as the uk is the cheapest place in the world to buy a Rolex, that’s just how it is.

Congrats mate!!

In my opinion the only thing that could lead to the scenario you stated is if £ rises in value very significantly, enough to make it cheaper to fly and to buy in Europe or US. I don’t see this happening though.
Just enjoy your new watch and forget about the premium!

The BLNR has been popular since its launch and I don’t see it changing anytime soon. Congratulations and enjoy it If the predicted price rise happens you’ve ended up paying close to RRP.

A model released at Basel in 2013 in April - and that is still popular 4,5 years later - can not be called a hype, by any means.

Some people can't understand that....it's alright. I'm convinced it's already a modern classic in the making, the color combination just works and even with a new SS GMT release with a different color combo, I don't see the BLNR taking a huge dip (especially if it gets discountinued) and will retain value in the long run.

I got back from Dubai 4 days ago, no SS sports in the AD in the mall.

Coming back in the airport i was told they were expecting a delivery the following day of a BLNR, Hulk, DSSD and one other sought after SS that i can't remember.

To say i was annoyed was an understatement!!!!!!!!
