5513 Matte Dial query
Seller is unsure of the originality of the lume on the dial.
My question to the experts do you believe it is original? Looks just too perfect and uniform in colour. The hands are also sparkly new for a 1.4m serial watch. Any feedback would be appreciated. |

If I can see the bottom of the dial, before calling it is a reprint dial. But for sure the lume was not done by Rolex. Same deal with the hands. |

Possibly relumed rather than refinished but still lovely color.

Having seen the bottom of the dial, I can say with confident that the dial is original, and I believe it was the first matte MF dial ( lume was very thin). It came on watches with serial as early as 1.4 + mil serial. It's definitely re-lumed.

I'm jet lagged but isn't a 1.4 million serial still usually a gilt dial or if this is very early matte, often a bit creamy-greenish lume. But, I have seen others like this, that are supposedly original, so...

indeed not a very early 1.4 matte lume. these tend to be whitish and crumbly. can be mistaken for lousy relume.

been relumed - dial is period correct and has the same smudges as the 1.4-1.5m non-gilt matte dials do
