My first AP - ROC or ROO Diver?
I'm currently choosing between ROC and ROO Diver, to complement my Rolex DD40. I'm not that familiar with AP, especially its divers lineup. Should I get the diver over the ROC?
The ROC blue looks extremely good in person and also quite comfortable. But it has a 40hr power reserve movement and is only 50mm water resistant. The ROO Diver will probably be a better daily watch with rubber strap and 300mm water resistance. It just feels like a tougher watch than the ROC. Plus it has a 60hr power reserve in house movement... |

Unless you are going diving, 50m is plenty to swim with. Even most beginner dives don't reach a true 50m, so I guess it depends on how experienced you are of a diver and how frequent you dive to let the WR level influence the decision. Power reserve of 40hrs is just a bit shy for what Id prefer my watches to be, but I don't think it's a bad thing at all to let a watch take a nap. A higher PR would be nice but it shouldn't be too devastating.
For myself, I would choose a ROC over a diver any day of the week in terms of aesthetics. However if I ever gotten to the point where I've worn my ROC enough and I was planning on venturing out to another AP watch, I may consider the diver. The diver just doesn't do very much for me personally. To answer your question, as you posted both shots of the diver on with a suit, Id say a ROC fits better with a suit than does a diver, although I see nothing wrong with either. Plus with an ROC you get to experience the full bracelet of an AP. Good luck and happy hunting! |

50m water resistance for a Swiss watch doesn't mean you can dive to 50m - personally I wouldn't swim with a 50m rated watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Was not aware of that. I was always under the impression that 50m would be more than enough to swim with. Good information to know! I guess it would be a mandatory question to ask then..how does one feel about swimming with a 100m watch then?

As I've commented in the Rolex thread, I think the ROC is way too big for you. ROs are not supposed to look big.
https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=566825 Diver would be the better option because ROOs are supposed to be big. |

You can swim with a 50m but not dive. If swimming is a big part of this I would pick the Diver, probably fit you better as well as it wears kind of small.

I think it all depends on your lifestyle. For me being an executive, the ROC is a better daily watch. So Divers and ROO's make for better weekend watches. Do you spend a lot of time in the water? Do you wear suit or casual clothes during week? Both great choices in the end so good luck with your decision!
