Oman dial and Asprey back case
Hi RF,
Does a steel Rolex with Oman dial need to have written "ASPREY" (from the London dealer) on the back case to be authentic, or did they sell some steel watches with the Oman dial without the writing on the back case? Best J |

I think so....
I think it needs to have both but there are others that know more than I.

Can someone remind me what the Omani dial looks like? I think my dad might have one, and I'm pretty sure there's nothing engraved on the back.

This is a good description of what an Omani dial looks like and its background. |

I’m guessing you would want to see the serial inside the caseback regardless if it has Asprey on the outside. There’s so many lose dials floating around so if you want to pay premium you would want some kind of assurance it came with the watch originally.

I've never quite gotten the appeal of the middle eastern dials...

Most of Omani Rolex watches were commissioned by the Sultanate of Oman, while only some were retailed by Asprey of London. Some watches have their serial numbers engraved on the inner side of the caseback, some do not.
The absence of both Asprey and serial in the caseback is not proof of authenticity. The main issue these days is the many fake Middle Eastern dials that have flooded the market. |
