VERSUS: Rolex Submariner 16610s

Third edition of the "VERSUS" post/picture. What is "VERSUS"? Well, I thought it would be fun to compare two watches (and only those two watches) and discuss pros/cons by outlining the differences and getting folks' ideas/thoughts/opinions on TRF. We got folks here that have been collecting and studying these things for decades all the way to those who are just starting to venture into the crazy world of Rolex (and everyone in between). Therefore, it would be fun and educational!

For this edition, we have the 16610 face off. A 'regular' 16610 and a 50th anniversary 16610LV.

Some obvious things:

Traditional black bezel v. green
Non-maxi dial v. maxi dial

Which do you prefer and why?

Previous VERSUS:
1. VERSUS: Submariner 1680 v. 16610

2. VERSUS: Rolex Submariner and Sea-Dweller 16610LV and 126600

Both fantastic watches , but its got to be the LV for me . Obviously a little biased as I have a LV , but we all have our favourites don't we .

I prefer the regular 16610. I’m cool with maxi printed dials, but the newer maxi applied markers never seemed quite right to me. Also, I’d never buy a green watch.

I'm gonna go with the 16610LV in this case. I like a splash of colour on my watches! The original is pretty beautiful too though...

as a 6 digit LV owner, I think maybe that colors my opinion, but I don't love the 5 digit LV, seems like frankenwatch from the factory. 16610 looks like a "classic" if not vintage Rolex to my eye.

Interesting. You have a great collection as well but the classic LN (albeit originally LV) is your favorite here. The LN is not a safe choice as people say. It's a classic Rolex that every watch lover respect. Great pic as always by the way.

I like the LN for the classic dial and proportions. If the LV had a green dial, it would be a toss up for me.

Thanks Flavio! Glad you think so, I'll keep it up as long as people find it fun/valuable, :)
