Red Submariner advice.

Know someone close that is looking at this watch. Would like like to get some expert opinion on if it looks mostly original. I believe they are around 11k, better examples around that point? Serial around 2,300,000. Thoughts and advice appreciated.

Pictures are not great but probably should be a meters first dial, insert is a mid font replacement, hands look to have been replaced and it looks like its been polished a couple times. I would not make a decision based on those pics.

Why is the glass so thick? Is that normal?

It looks to be quite polished. The lugs are uneven, and the crown-side lugs are quite thin. The bezel insert (as others have said) is a later mid-font insert, and the PIP hole appears to be filled with paint to mimic a PIP. The hands need to be replaced. Is the dial damaged or is that the fallen-off lume sitting on the dial? I would personally skip this watch based on the case.
