Weighing a Rolex (Part II?) to verify authenticity
While trying to figure out if a 1985 Rolex DateJust (model 16013) with Jubilee bracelet is (1) real and (2) legit, I saw the "How much does it weigh?" thread here but, alas, it is closed.
I'm convinced it is real, based on numerous sites' information about this model/date Rolex. In pursuit of total verification of that I weighed the watch on a kitchen scale that seems to be fairly accurate and got 104 grams across multiple weighings. So...for those of you "in the know" of such things, does this make sense? The above-mentioned thread has a range of weights for different watches and this SEEMS to be in the ball park; I wasn't able to find a thread (minimal searching) about this particular model's weight. Any feedback w.r.t. this weight is appreciated. |

Weight is not a good way to verify its authenticity. This is an outdated and quite frankly incorrect way to determine authenticity of a watch
These days with all these exotic materials being used there are $150k watches that weigh 30 grams or less. |

There is a sub-forum under the classified section; "Watch Out!!" where members post pictures of watches to ask advice on whether legit or not. One of the moderators may come along and move this post to there.
Can you provide better pictures? If so, upload and update this post or add a new post to that section. Good luck. |

I simply was wondering what its weight should be and posted the image so folks would know what watch I'm poorly typing about. ======== [as an aside, after starting this thread and having some spare time and the urge, I believe I actually tracked down where the watch was sold to my (ex)bro-in-law - apparently on a street in Kaohsiung famous for gold/gold jewelry: Xinyue Street, Yancheng District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. The watch was given to me in a red silk bag imprinted with the name of the jeweler (that has faded over the 25-30-ish years since) but Google Translate (Traditional Chinese-to-English) and my lousy hand-written input to it gave up some clues - luv the Internet! (I neither read nor write Chinese) As with many different products sold in Taiwan, there is a street renowned for a single product...you should see the (long) street dedicated to electric motors...] |

...Remove bracelet, photograph numbers, post pics. Photograph clasp markings, post pics. Remove caseback.. You get the idea.
