The problem is . . .

. . . that despite everyone in the universe knowing it's queer, eBay won't remove it.

Last week I saw a moody Hublot get bid up so ridiculously by people who wanted to bust up the auction that the seller deleted it, and started over again, only to get it blown up again.

I know you can get punished for interference, but this "Yacht-Master" has me irked, and I'm tempted to bid it way up past the silly mark.

I wonder if, as high bidder, you can leave feed-back even before money has changed hands . . .

Sure you can, bid it up and then claim it's a fake.

The problem is . . .

. . . that there are a lot of people who trust eBay as a platform, believing anyone who uses the site is legit.

When a seller has good feed-back, or a good description and decent photos, the bidders figure they're about to get lucky, and not just screwed.

As a natural skeptic, I expect a seller to prove to me their item exists and that it's worth the money. When an item is too cheap, my ears start to burn.

When I see no history as a seller, or no activity in a year or more, or nonsense about inheriting a box of late model Rolexes, I know something is wonky.

What really irks me is when sellers offer Rolexes with incorrect model numbers engraved in the case, or when you see a buy it now of $300 for an $8000 Hublot Big Bang . . .

Ouch. How much sympathy can you have for fools? I'd be quite concerned if I was the seller because whoever bought that must be a nutter.

It's really dangerous to drink and surf ebay.

It is highly unlikely . . .

. . . that the transaction will be consummated.

The auction has been reported a dozen or more times, and it's hard to imagine eBay purposely allowing felony fraud to be executed on their site.

In addition, the high bidder has zero feedback, so the ID may have been set up just to keep the watch out of the hands of an innocent victim.

I would be very surprised if the watch isn't offered again later this week . . .
