What Happened to Panerai Local Dealers??
Good Morning all....
Years ago when I was fist got into wearing Panerai around 2006-2007 there were a bunch of local Panerai Authorized Retailers. Went back to Rolex in 2012 and took a break. Recently I have rekindled my love for Panerai and noticed all of the local dealers have vanished? What happened? Were the dealers pulled from Panerai or did they give up on selling them?? Thanks in Advance... Steve S. |

Panerai pulled out from my local AD. I have to drive 2 hours to northern Virginia now to look at anything other than Rolex.

Its a mix of Panerai deciding to drop dealers in favor of boutiques and dealers deciding to drop Panerai. Good friend of mine runs a high end watch store with Rolex, Tudor, Omega, etc and they are dropping Panerai because it isn't performing well.

Perhaps the repeated disappointment of their customers played a roll?

Just curious, but what do you mean by “repeated disappointment “?

prolific limited editions and reissues that significantly devalued earlier production, along with many reports of poor service

Honestly it's disappointing. I live hours from NYC, and it's just too far. I uded to have 2 dealers within 30 minutes of me.

My local AD will no longer be carrying Panerai. They’ve been having a pretty good deal to try and clear inventory. They are pretty picked over though.

My local AD - here in Melbourne - lost Panerai as they are opening a boutique just down the road, which is O.K. by me as I can still "see" them easily...however I feel for all you guys who are miles from a boutique...I'm not so sure it's a good idea to be putting yourself miles away from a lot of your customers...after all not everyone lives in (or very near to) a big city with a boutique... previous to this I had to fly to Singapore if I wanted a boutique only ref... and don't get me started on those "on-line" only models...which were only available to people who were in the U.S.A. !!! - hardly seems fair to their customers in the rest of the world...
cheers

panerai has opened a number of boutiques and has moved towards that model. don't know about these 'service issues' people are talking about, every one of my interactions with them has been great, and most of my friends who own panerai's have had little to no issues with service....
we have a few boutiques locally, one is great the others not so much. wish we had a boutique here, although i'd still do biz with my current place.

Not saying there is never a service issue. I am saying its not quite the universal problem it is made to be. I know ALOT of people including dealers who have had their Pams serviced with no issues at all. When there are now hundreds of thousands of watches out there getting serviced and there is only the vocal few that complain about issues, it doesn't make it an overall issue. That's all I am saying.
