Too similar? What to do?!?!?

Yesterday, during our MX Christmas lunch, we stopped by the local Rolex boutique (BIG mistake). Stock was impressive, with MANY options on same dials (ie blue DJ41 SS on jubilee, oyster, flutes and smooth bezels, etc). As we got in, the Daytona display called me. Options...a LOT!

Here is the dilemma: I own a YG/leather Daytona which was my grail and took me years to get; yet when I saw the new ceramic....oh boy.

Question: should adding this would make sense or is it too similar?

Thank you all!

(Watch on right, I already own...should I add the one on the left? BTW, watch on right looks much better than in pics)

Is flipping your current an option? That's the route I would go, flip for the ceramic! Gorgeous watches.

Not really. Took me years to get and has a special sentimental value to me. The ceramic would be an addition.

Got it. I would pass then, your Daytona is beautiful and the other is far too similar. Good luck!

If this is the case then I'd just pass. Maybe the white gold on rubber with ceramic would be a better suit. In my opinion, I wouldn't have them both as like you somewhat led to, too similar

Try sourcing out a ceramic bezel for the 116518 (original or aftermarket) for a fraction of the price you have your watch with two bezels gold and ceramic
Your watch is more “valuable” has a full gold bezel

It’s obviously the same watch I wouldn’t buy it

Tough one G. They do look somewhat similar, so what about a different dial color? Don’t know why, but that Daytona looks as it “belongs” on the oysterflex.

Damn, I expected to see a YG Daytona with gold or black dial on a strap vs. a WG Daytona with a gray face on OF! Yes, this is too similar!

I'll show myself to the door...

What're your thoughts on the white gold and oysterflex? I feel like that would be an awesome addition to your YG. Or you can just get a 116610LV

Man, tough call! that is my second fav OF Daytona. those two are too similar IMO to coexist.

I Know it's not the same but I made a similar decision to keep my SS 116500 and also acquire the 116519 on OF. I'm quite happy to own both, but those two specifically are way too similar.

I'd get the WG though for sure. Your YG on leather and this WG on OF would be a killer duo.

Exact one I basically just referred to!

I would switch to ceramic but stay with the sentimental one then, I wouldn't add that, either get a different dial or the WG.

No problem adding, imho!!! They're different enough that you could wear one on land and one in the water.

In yellow gold, you have the one to get, IMO, G. So classy and beautiful. The black ceramic is nicer with the WG or SS.

Anyway, keep what you have an perhaps add that 116610LV you've been talking about??

G, I definitely prefer yours with the gold bezel. I’m just not a fan of the ceramic bezels on the gold models.

Keep your original grail as it has more meaning plus it's paid for. The ceramic is nice but too close looking IMHO. Maybe consider something else if you've got buyers itch. Good luck. Cheers!
