Dec. 9th Rolex or bust
So my Girlfriend and i are planning to take a trip to NYC on the 9th.
She wants to take me to see the Tree (i have never gone before) and this trip times up perfectly with my time to buy my Sub. We plan on going to the diamond dist. before the tree and looking at a few stores. I have been waiting for a years to do this and to be honest i'm pretty nervous because i don't want to come home empty handed. I kinda feel like after hitting all the big stores at WTC and 5th ave if i cant find my Sub i might just say screw it and pick out something else. what do you think my chances are of finding a sub nodate in the city this close to Christmas? |

Check out the Trusted Sellers. Pick one up from them, and wear it to NYC!

I’d reach out to either local ADs or known sellers on TRF. If you go the “diamond district” route, who knows what you’ll end up with.

Stocks are low now. But there is hope for sub no date. I think if you check out several dealers, you can find one. Discount, maybe not

Settling will only bring you regret and cost you more in the long run.
Be patient. If you find the Submariner - great, if not, you’ll still enjoy NYC. |

Don't bother with 47th st on a saturday - I was there a few weeks ago and probably 82% of the block was closed. Still some good window shopping but nothing like M-F. Maybe the proximity to the holidays will have more merchants open when you go.

If you end up in Brooklyn, go to William barthman, Rolex AD - they always have plenty of stock. Been there recently and they had pretty much everything -including a sub.

First, you want a Sub then buy the Sub. Don't settle, it'll cost you in the end when you sell whatever you bought instead to buy the Sub!
Second, pick up the phone and call all the AD's in the city. Ask them what they have, if they have a Sub pay for it and pick it up on your day in the city. First call should be Greg at Wempe, very nice guy, no nonsense, and he will be honest with you about what they have and when they'll have it. Good luck. |

You may do the research of the ADs in NYC. Call them to check whether they have the stock available and ask them reserve it.

Plenty of good ADs in NJ...I would go that route vs. trying to find a SS Sub in NYC around the holidays.

the most "expensive" watch you will ever buy is the watch you bought instead of the watch you wanted

I understand that you wanna live the experience of buying your dream watch from NYC. But believe me you'll regret getting something else, the submariner is such an awesome watch and worth the wait!
Enjoy your trip! |

Tony JustRolexes also has a BNIB Sub no date for sale here in the classifieds.
He is as good as trusted sellers get. Wire the money, have FedEx deliver to your door next day. |

Do not be so eager as to make a mistake you'll regret long after the initial glee of a new (pricey & significant) purchase wears off.

Agreed. Buying from trusted sellers here is frighteningly easy (even from half way around the world, let alone a couple of states away)

Unless you want to go into an AD in NYC and buy the watch at full retail you should reach out to a TS here on TRF. With limited knowledge and experience I would never buy from one of the shops that are not recommended by the members here. David or Tony will have the watch to you asap and you can get to wearing it and making memories.

But go to NYC and see if you can find one first, if you can't this is your recourse, research trusted sellers here, there are a half dozen that are rock solid. I suggest you take advantage now, in 2 months all these will be above retail as well. |

The reason I want to buy the watch in a AD is for the experience and I have never even tried on a sub and I can't do that on this forum.
While I appreciate you all trying to save me some money I'm perfectly fine with paying retail. Besides I'm almost 100% sure I will need the ad to order 1 or 2 extra links before it will fit so I'm bringing alone a nato. The only thing that has me somewhat annoyed is the timing of me being able to pull the trigger on the watch I have wanted for years and years and Rolex doing what no one understands and cut back stock around the holidays. Kinda ruffles my feathers to think I need to try this hard to spend 8k+ on a watch... and with that feeling in mind is why I would look to a omega. My first stop will be wempe I'm not going to bother calling any of the places because I want to check them all out anyway so I would rather be disappointed or completely happy in person rather then over the phone. I hope by next Saturday I will be posting some pics of a Rolex on my wrist in front of the Rockefeller center tree Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |
