Reputable London dealers to sell my Rolex at.

Hi, a bit of a strange question but here goes.

I have an opportunity to get a DSSD at a very good price, unfortunately I am a bit short of funds. I am looking at selling my Milgauss GV to seal the deal.
Any places in London to sell it at a fair price ? As it's a spur of the moment sell, so no box or papers.

Looked at Goldsmiths, but they appear a bit short of my expectations price wise. One Knightsbridge watch trader looked ok and they replied to my email with a fair offer, any other places I should try as well or avoid ? I tried internet searching but there appear to be dozens of second hand watch traders in London and I don't know which are ok or who I should avoid at all costs.

No, and think non UK watches are OK too with them, some like Mark Worthington are not OK.

Watchfinder are good to deal with, you can get a quote from them quickly and as long as you describe the watch correctly, they pay you what they quote.

They give you an online valuation (estimate) based on what you tell them, but only give a firm offer once they receive the watch and inspect it for themselves.

Blowers are a pain sometimes. For example they will only take it if they know they will get a quick sale, large profit or otherwise they will offer to sell it for a commission. My view is to contact WF, love them or hate them if you want a quick sale they will take it at a fair price.

Some firms like Blowers don't want their money in stock, they like you to have your money in their stock, and sell on commission. They have the watch and you only get paid when it sells. WF put their money where their mouth is.

I have no affiliation with WF but have tried to sell to Blowers a couple of times and it has been a pain, used WF there times and it has been easy.

Just my view.

Mark Worthington have been very fair on prices with me in the past on three watches. Blowers also ok but if it’s not a hot watch they can move quickly (or you are trading up to another piece with them) in my experience they will push for doing a commission sale for you, & that is a slow process.

In the past 6 months I've traded one watch and sold one to Watchfinder.

Both times they gave me a valuations online and I accepted, and on sending them the watches, this is the figure the paid.

You are just splitting hairs.

No - I am clarifying your statement that they pay you a figure based purely on the description YOU give them.
To someone who is not familiar with how WF purchase watches from private customers the way your thread reads it's as if they just automatically pay out their first quoted amount no questions asked!
This is most certainly not the case and a valid correction on my part.
I accept you may have been fortunate and received the full amount they quoted based on YOUR description - you are obviously very honest in your appraisal of your own timepiece - but not everyone is quite so...
A sellers interpretation of 'Mint Condition' and WF's interpretation can sometimes be £££'s appart.
All I am saying is don't automatically expect to receive the full amount they first quote BEFORE they have the watch in their possession to do their own true valuation.
I must add of course that you do not have to accept their offer if your not happy with it and they will return your watch no problem - just also bear in mind that the valuations aren't done in the local branch you take it too, only at head office, so you will be without your watch for several days/poss weeks while it's sent away/appraised/returned.
I didn't want to labour this point too much but feel it was required for the benefit of any forum members thinking of selling through WF for the first time.

IMO and experience keep away from going down this path.
It will be better to wait and get a DSSD from your local AD and pay cash and negotiate a discount while you're at it.
Then sell your other surplus watches at your convenience and as you see fit rather than cop it sweet at others convenience and be at their mercy.

Just to confirm, MW are good to deal with and offer good prices on UK watches. WF prices are good but better when you are trading in, they work on high volume. Blowers communication is poor, often no email response for days, tel maybe better. Chronext comms good but prices are poor.
