Sell the 16600 for the BLNR?
Hey guys.
So the BLNR is my absolute grail watch. I currently own the 16600 SD and 16570 EXP II (which I will most likely never sell because it’s my birth year). I have been thinking of trading the 16600 up to the BLNR, or selling it cash and buying a BLNR. I know the saying is “don’t flip just add” in this forum. But currently I do not have the means to add, and I don’t know if I will have the means to add a third Rolex in the foreseeable future. (I’m not in need of $. My savings must go toward other investments and I prefer a 2 watch collection) Pros about the SD that make me want to keep it: -When it was in production, it was rarely sold over the sub which in my eyes gives it more character it more valuable in the future (just my opinion) - M serial which means as far as I know it was produced in the final year of pre ceramic. - potential collector piece? (Just a hunch, not a fact) Pros about the BLNR: - it’s my favourite attainable Rolex lol What would you do? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Why not if that’s what you want to do. Just don’t pay too much of a premium for the blnr as they seem pricey at the moment (don’t know if you can get one from an AD or not). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Guess I’m afraid I’d be making a mistake. Everyone I talk to that knows watches says “keep that 16600, that’s a gem you got there” Appreciate the input Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sure. Why not
When its time its time. I say sell it and go for it. If you really ever wanted a 16600 again you can find one. You might even want the 116600 at that point. |

Well, ultimately it’s your watch and your call. When they say keep, for what? If you don’t want to wear it and would rather have the other one, what’s the point.
Life is too short. Buy what makes you happy and with those two you don’t have a bad choice... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

She is a keeper. You can get a BLNR anytime but an M SD will be more challenging if you regret it latter.

I did the opposite......sold BLNR and bought a 16600.
I think the TRF standard answer is keep 16600 and acquire the BLNR. They will pair nicely together. Cheers |

Sell it and get the watch you really want. Plus, you said you only want two watches. Its just a watch after all.

It's up to you honestly. How much do you really love your SD? I do understand the potential for regret, but only you can decide how much you really want a BLNR vs the SD.
Personally, I think the amount of BLNRs running around out there make them a little less special, so I'd keep the SD. It really comes down to how much you really want to own your personal grail.

Only you can answer that question. If it were me, I'd keep the SD by a long shot...actually, I'd just sell the SD and wear your 16570 EXP II every day forever.

If you aren’t wearing it then sure sell it. But would wait a bit until BLNR prices normalize and you can get one at MSRP or less. In the mean time , would hit the ADs a few times and try on any steel gmt2c to make sure you like the way it wears

I’m on a local watch forum here in Canada and the BLNR pops up for 8400 (USD) pretty regularly. Which is why I’m so intrigued at this point Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Tough call... again I would add and not replace... just remember the BLNR is current production and can more easily be found vs. a clean SD like I'm sure you probably have. And there are only so many of them.
This is coming from a BLNR owner. |

The SD isn’t a rare watch like those of 30+ years ago.
You can always find another. It might take a few months to get what you’re looking for, but it will be there. I’d flip it.

Have you tried the BLNR or just seen pictures?
I would go try it on at a local AD and see how you like it on your wrist. Only you can make the decision. When it grabs you, it doesn't matter what people say on a forum.
