How to send an insured watch?

I need to know how to send an insured watch ($ 7000) from one state to another, this case from Sunny Isles FL to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York.
I do not want to send for USPS but I know there is another service called Parcel Pro. Someone can tell me how to contact them. Can it be through UPS? Thanks friends. Have a Happy 2008.

Google "Parcel Pro" and call their customer service tmrw. Tell them you collect watches and what you want to do. When I signed up the Rep told me she gets multiple calls a week from folks needing what you need. They will set you up with an account and you can print UPS and FedEx labels as needed. Good Luck!

If speed of shipping is important, Parcel Pro has a long history...but it is not inexpensive. If safety is primary and you'd like insurance as well, USPS Registered Mail is an excellent way to go. I've used them because their $25000 insurance gives me peace of mind. Yes it takes longer because at every step in journey the package must be signed for. But it does get there. FedEx is very reliable but the lack of insurance on items such as watches can give you heartburn. Still my latest purchase was at my door overnight using FedEx so I can't complain.

Fedex limits insurance to $1,000. Parcel Pro is an insurance company. If you are able to sign-up with Parcel Pro, they will insure the watch with shipping available by either Fedex or UPS.

Once a client of Parcel Pro, you go to their web site and complete all the documents to insure the watch and then choose which company you will ship with - Fedex or UPS. Once the shipping documents are completed, you are able to print the shipping labels at the Parcel Pro web site.

To become a client with Parcel Pro, you need references from current Parcel Pro clients.

I know many here will say USPS. I’m not one of those people! I’ve had the USPS loose mail/packages with tracking numbers and they fall into a great black hole never to be seen again! The local post office was no help and neither was anyone else I talked to from sort centers to postmasters. No accountability whatsoever. Everyone passes the buck. Go FedEx next day delivery or UPS next day delivery. I’m not sure but isn’t Parcel Pro more or less insurance on the package?

USPS has never lost a package of mine in 15 years or ebay and watches. UPS is also a good option. Do not use fedex due to lack of insurance.

If not, USPS will insure up to $5k for next day air.

No such luck with me. A USPS employee stole an $8,000 package (a watch) I mailed to Chicago from the mail facility in Chicago. Took me two months to receive my claim. That was the last time I used USPS.

Kinda off topic, but as a car dealer we were sending new plates, titles and so forth to our non local customers via USPS express (2-3 day) About every other one was getting lost in that big black hole someone spoke of. There was no real value to the contents other than the time it takes to have DMV redo it, so we were not insuring it. Well after all of the loses I decided to start adding $500.00 worth of insurance. Now they all suddenly arrive where they are supposed to...

I've had VERY bad experience with USPS. As mentioned, they have ZERO accountability and are buffoons.

Personally I think it’s not important which carrier you use as long as the insurance purchased is from an independent company like Parcel Pro or any other third party. Never ever use the carriers insurance. Truth is it’s not insurance at all. It’s nothing more than a “declared value” that when lost you must jump through hoops to claim while they battle your every move. A third party is actual insurance where they have your interests in mind, well, at least more than the carriers.

You can insure USPS packages through Parcel Pro, have it set up along with Fedex and UPS

USAA covers my shipping from me to repair facility or to a buyer. As long as it's tracked and signature at the end of the trip

USPS registered mail, fully insured, signature required.

Only way I ship.

Very slow but always makes it safely.

Use Parcel Pro, works great. They are part of UPS but they will also insure FedEX too but the shipping cost is more expensive with FedEx vs UPS.

How come some people say FedEx will only insure up to 5000? If you look on their website, you can get quotes for shipments over 5000.

I would send it USPS Registered Mail. You can insure items up to $50,000.00. Extremely secure and usually takes only 48 hrs for items to be received.

Duh, why? When all are basically saying the same thing. USPS is the way to go... inexpensive, efficient and convenient. Have used that service for 25 yrs and it's been top notch!

He probably means the 48 hr comment. While USPS registered mail is very secure, it takes a lot longer to get somewhere. Everytime I have sent registered mail, it says 2-3 days, and takes 7-10 days.

I agree it's the only way to ship but I just wondered where you got the 48 Hr's from?

I shipped my watch for a trade via Fedex 2nd day air. It was insured for $14K. FYI insurance cost is $1 per $100 insured value.
