Question for all you new AD purchasers on here ...

When picking up your BNIB time peice from your local AD do you have them print your name on the warranty card or just leave it blank showing their AD name along with date ?

They usually write my name in with pen.

I try to buy watches to keep so they write my name on the card, why wouldn't they?

My LV, BLNR and TT Sub are all left blank.

The LVc - the AD insisted I put my name on the card, then they took a photocopy of it along with the receipt stating Rolex now wants to see fully completed cards. I didn't want to argue or loose out on the LVc, so went with it.

Personal preference, I guess.

Adding - All the cards were swiped at the AD @ time of purchase (except the Kermit does not have the strip)

I have my name written on the card. Honestly, don't know how that would deter a buyer should I chose to move on from the watch - they're aware I bought it from the AD, I can see that as more of a positive than a negative.

Why would they leave it blank? I guess I don't get the question.

From a while ago any AD that left these warranty cards blank became immediate suspect of an AD that helped out gray dealers. I have not seen any used Rolex with blank cards and recall that it is now a requisite of Rolex that the AD fill the blanks in the warranty card, and swipe it like a credit card. Rolex therefore immediately knows who the owner of the watch is.

Rolex policy is to have the card fully completed. It asks for the name of the purchaser. Once its bought by anyone it then becomes "used", so who cares.

My recent purchase has the name of the AD store and the date that I purchased. Name of buyer was left blank. I really don't think that it will make a difference either or as this is hand written and you can write it yourself if you wish to have your name on it. However, the waranty card was activated on the same machine that my debit card was swiped which tied it onto my transaction.

one filled just the date out, not my name, one never filled anything, yet another made me fill my name 10 days ago, with date.
Does it matter? maybe... It's a Rolex and it should work fine for the next few years regardless when under warranty and when it is time for your first servicing, it will be out of warranty anyway....
cheers!

I’m fairly certain it’s not an option. Maybe it used to be but no longer. And unless yur a grey dealer, why wouldn’t you want it on it?

I've seen both done. In the past it was almost always left blank but recently, I've seen a lot of ADs make a point of writing the name on the card.

From what I understand running it through the card reader does nothing more than order another of the same model from the Mother Ship. It doesnt record any of your information.

From experience, they are pretty strict about names on warranty cards in USA. Outside USA, I see many cards with open name.
