setting a watch...across time zone

does it hurt the watch if when i set the time i either go, clockwise or counter clockwise? add an hour or take away an hour..any advise, thank you.
i apologize if this has been covered.

i have a date watch.. muchas gracias.

Maybe with old Pendulum wall clocks; I don't think that there is a watch made today that you cannot turn the hands both backward and forward.

I've lived with a bunch of old clocks... all of them had some form of friction clutch between the hands and mechanism - to set just touch the hands and move them. easier than twisting a crown

Only complication are the movements with quarterly repeaters, they'll go outta sync... can either change the hands in quarterly movements all the way (need to wait for chimes to finish every step) or disconnect the chiming and change the time in full hour steps. Reconnect chimes and do final 1-3 quarters.

And yeah, mice love making nests in clocks
