The things we do to get what we want!!!!

Hi all. After reading the forum for a few weeks now it's about time I informed you that my wife is gonna leave me unless I choose between her or the forum? So, it gives me great pleasure to say I now have plenty of time on my hands to read the various forum topics as she has just left!!!!!

As this is my first thread written I thought I'd enquire as to the most desperate and rewarding act we have each committed to get the watch we most want?

My story goes like this: I have owned various Rolexs and prestige watches over the years but have always desired a SS Daytona but always REFUSED to pay over RRP. Anyway whilst gambling and being reasonably successful at the roulette table (not often I assure you) in Auckland (Hi JJ) I decided to pop into an AD in Parnell to enquire as to the availability of a SS Daytona. Much to my surprise they had a BNIB Z white face one and were prepared to sell it to me at RRP......and here's the catch...... so long as I purchased AT LEAST two other watches!

So after much humming and arring I decided the other two would be a GMT Master II "Pepsi" and a Bulgari Diagono GMT40SSD. As the AD were closing their dealings with Bulgari in NZ they offerred me a 40% discount too on the watch. Yippee!!

So after some calculations and pathetic haggling on my behalf we reached the magic figure for all 3. After pulling out the readies the AD manager, Glenn, politely informed me I was also entitled to a tax free price as I was from overseas!!!!!! Yippee again!!

Back home the GMT Master II went to my son for his 18th (he really loves me now) and the Bulgari was meant to go to my wife but seeing as I knew she would hate it I decided it would suit me better. Funny that?

The crazy thing was that not only did I get my SS Daytona and the other 2 for RRP minus tax at most, but the following week Rolex increased prices worldwide on the SS from £4200 to £4800. In short I paid approximately £3780 for it OCT 2007. Yippee again again!!

When I figure out how to use the photo facility on this I'll show you all some of my various loves inc' Milgauss GV (6 days old), Milgauss White Dial (6 months old), Deep Sea (2 months old 2nd ever in Brisbane), 1960 Tudor 18ct Prince, 1986 Date (£758) + other brands

On a final note, am I alone is thinking it's a sin to ever re-sell your watch once you've fallen in love with it. I just can't no matter how bad the roulette table hammers me!!

Take care and thanks for a great forum

I have not and would never go to that extreme. But if everyone is happy.....

So how soon can we see the watches?

2 posts and she's thinking of leaving you?

She needs to speak to Zemina to get some tips.

BTW - Welcome, Charlie.

Sometimes a new watch comes along and you just have to have it. You can't justify it but neither can she with bags, shoes and boyfriends !!! Only joking !!!

My wife said last night, "I wish I could have one-half the attention you give to that Rolex Forum." so I know what you mean.
