Joined the club a few weeks ago but upon looking at my watch this morning I seem to have found some dust maybe?

I doubt it's supposed to be there since it's not symmetrical... Unless it's some security feature I don't know about...

Is it not between the crystal and the bezel? Can you get a sliver of paper in there and move it?

First. Beautiful Explorer. Such a classic.

It’s really hard to tell from the pic but it does appear to be dust or dirt of some sort. Is it under the crystal?

Regardless. I wouldn’t pay any mind to it. Don’t let a tiny spec of dust take away from that awesome watch.

Can't move it, it seems like it's on the inside of the watch bezel that the crystal sandwiched onto it.

Thank you! I absolutely love the watch itself but this is driving me a bit mad. Is it worth taking back to the AD?

I'd guess it would. Albeit insignificant, it's your watch and you paid for it so it must be perfect to you.

I'd try the soft toothbrush as well. If the speck is still there, you probably have a warranty issue albeit a minor one.

Appreciate the advice, I don't think it'll work because it's literally inside of the case.

I actually called the AD since I wanted an appraisal for insurance purposes anyway (which they'd do for free, yay). They said they'll take a look and maybe send it in but also mentioned it could be a cosmetic defect whereas the warranty covers the movement?

The warranty covers everything except for damage that the wearer caused. The RSC will fix this under warranty. Since this is such a simple fix, you could also find out if there is a local watchmaker certified to do Rolex warranty repair and they could get it out real quick.

I'll give it a try and rinse it a bit but I would think that if water can dislodge this from the inside then I'd have a bigger problem at hand.

If it bothers you now it’s not going to get any better. This is something I would definitely trust a local Rolex certified watch repair guy with if Rolex would take too long to turn around.

I'd give it a couple of days, even weeks as it could very well fall off and disappear just the same way that it got there in the first place. Unless it has always been there and you have never noticed.

Had a same problem back in 2016 with my 1 week old BLNR. Bought from Harrods in London and found a speck at the 2 o’clock sent it to the RSC in st James square had the watch back in 7 days. It’s worth taking it in to a RSC / or AD to get it inspected. Good luck!

Took it to the AD and they said they never saw anything like that before.

Said they would take care of it if I left it with them for a few days. I actually just went to pick up my appraisal for insurance so I'm holding onto it until my insurance policy gets updated.

They have a Rolex certified tech, should that be sufficient or should I insist on the RSC?

I think that's fine. You're not having a movement service or a polish. Just make sure they pressure test it afterwards. It'll probably save a lot of time this way.

I sent my BB in to RSC Dallas for a repair and it came back with a spec of dust by the 7 hand. I was shocked. It happens.
