Rolex to Panerai
Has anyone made the swap from Rolex to Panerai.
What did you find and did you have any regrets? I cannot afford both unfortunately, looking for opinions on people who literally swapped one for another, not added one to their collection. Currently have. Sub C which I do love but I have become pretty obsessed with Panerai as of late and really like the look of them. |

IMO - Do not or never part with a Rolex Submariner. Just be patience and save for a Panerai, nowadays, prices of Panerai are at street level. Some say they are below street level. Which PANERAI are you looking at now?

I am looking at the Luminor marina and base 3 days.
I think if I did the swap I would be happy for a little while but ultimately kick myself for letting go of my sub, which is also my first Rolex / watch. Thanks for the advice. What do you mean price is street level, is that a low price? |

Yes, prices are really low. I was referring to used market, not BNIB from the AD or the Boutique.
Good for buyers and bad for sellers. I think it is probably due to PANERAI churning out too many models in recent time. In my parts of the world, a relatively good condition 112/111 is not more than USD4,000.00 and a pre-loved 372 is about (not more than) USD6,000.00 Again, DO NOT part with the Submariner Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I switched from Rolex awhile ago but I have been in the watch game awhile now and have learned what I like and don't like in a watch. Panerai hits all the buttons for me. I've had 30 Submariners of different flavors and I could care less about them now. They literally do nothing for me and they are a dime a dozen.
However, the key here is knowing what checks YOUR boxes. This is journey you must figure out on your own ultimately. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk |

Find which reference sings the most, and do a trade why not.

Room for both for sure! I would say that if you "love" your Sub, hold on to it and wait. The new watch infatuation may pass...and if it doesn't, then keep saving and make an awesome duo.

I agree with waikeekee.
I would personally trade/sell a Panerai to finance a Rolex Sub but not the other way around. IMO once you own both you understand why Rolex has the edge. |

I would hold onto the sub and save for the Luminor. I know how it is when you get the itch, but they’re so different I think you’d regret not having both.

All of the above. I have recently worn and traded quite a few vintage/collectible Rolex/Tudor pieces. I bought my first Panerai last Summer and love wearing it. I went base, albeit limited edition of only 2000 and therefore it is totally different to my others. 2 hands, manual. You wind it, it tells the time. It's beautiful. I'd save up as a mass base model can be had for very little.

I’m with you Nick
OP, why not go ahead and do the trade? If you find you miss the Sub, it’s not like you’ll have difficulty finding another. As long as you buy right on the Luminor you dint stand to lose a whole lot |

Thanks.
I’m going to save for a Panerai. Whether or wrong or damn right silly, I don’t think I can let go of a legend like the sub just because I fancy another watch right now which I have no experience of and basically no knowledge. |

Try to save and add a panerai.
Every time you sell a rolex you're loosing money, especially for a panerai nowdays. Back in 2010 i sold my 6 months old bluesy (16613) for 4.500 euro and bought my first panerai, a 312. Today the bluesy is an easy 8.000 euro and the 312 a 3.500 euro at best. |

Even though the brand has been badly damaged, now is an excellent time to pick up many standard-release models for well below retail, which was never possible in the past 10 years.
Sad to see this happen to such a great watch brand but a very good time to buy! |
