Incoming for my dad.

Just picked this up for my dad's 70th birthday. It was dad using an fp as I was growing up that got me into pens in the first place.

I can't wait to see his face when he opens it. This will be particularly special as he has not been in great health for a long time. There were several occasions we thought he wouldn't make it. Despite this he has faced his ailments with courage and fortitude. Without wishing to sound trite he is a hero to me and, since the birth of my son, a fantastic role model as a dad.

I can't wait to spoil him a bit

It's a Meisterstuck classique with an oblique medium nib

Just FYI. Montblanc used the classique name for several different models over the years. I think, but may be wrong, that is the 145 version.

I will defer to your greater knowledge. It was brand new rather than pre-loved if that makes a difference. Beautiful pen none the less. Much lighter and more controllable than my 149.

There was a slim pen that MB called the classique model 144, but it has a slip cap and a gold piece at the end of the section. It was even slimmer than what you got for your Dad. For a decade or so MB sold both the 144 & 145 as Classiques. And just to keep things straight they also had several different pens they called "Classic".

The third from the Left is a 144 Classique:

I gave that one to a little girl who was ten at the time and stuck home over the summer because of illness so writing was a big part of her contact with the outside world. I also got her to do an illustration for a story I'd written for my daughter and then made it into an online book.

Your father should be proud to have you as a son!

Well done!
