Daytona Two-Tone vs. Yachtmaster II SS

I am looking at adding another watch to the collection and am torn between these two watches as they are both amazing for different reasons. The Daytona has been around for a long time which means there are many people that have it. The Yachtmaster II is relatively new and I rarely see people wearing it which is why I tend to lean this route. I am curious on the opinions of everyone as to what watch will likely hold it's value better in the next 5 years. What do you think, the Two-Tone Daytona or the Stainless Steel Yachtmaster II?

Thanks for your time!

Exactly this.

Also, I love the size of the YMII and find the Daytona a touch small for my taste (though the WG in oysterflex is pretty tempting)

Hard to say re value. Just get the one you like the most.

Either one you buy, try to get the best deal you can as neither one does great on the secondary market. Which Daytona are you looking at?

In regards to which Daytona, I was thinking two tone white face, but have been intrigued with the stainless with white face.

Good manners cost nothing. And one usually reaps the rewards of them for years to come.

YM2 would be my advice.

Daytona only if it was an SS model.

Thing is, Daytona is 40mm and the YM2 is 44mm. There is a size difference and it is noticeable.

Daytona is an icon in any model unfortunately YM II is not there yet. I like YM II 116680 in terms of styling due to bigger case and countdown timer is something I like to use a lot, no need to be regatta racer to use it

The most important factor in the purchase of the SS YM II, is getting one on your wrist. It could not be more different than the jumbo closeup pictures you see here. Its outstanding.

Two tone daytona with a white dial would be my choice by far

Get the YM II and put your name down for the Daytona Steel.

I was in the same position last week.. between Hulk and YM II SS but once Hulk was not available I was debating between Daytona TT (with black dial and subdials) or YM II SS..
In the end I decided to go with the YM II.. part of the reason was I already have a TT GMT II and and a Daytona in TT just didn’t feel right.. am getting the YM II in 4 weeks and once on the wrist I hope it feels like it was the right move.. lol

You need to take in to account your wrist size as it could determine which way you go.
Daytona is 40mm and the YM2 is 44mm. Try them on for size and decide. I do not recommend you buying a watch for an investment. Buy the watch you love and who knows overtime it may appreciate.

I like both and if the 44m is ok for you I’d go YM. Nothing wrong with a TT Daytona however.

I have just bought both of these together a few days back from my AD! Was quite a day! Have to say the TT Daytona white face is an instant hit, truly beautiful and sits perfectly. I have the YM II SS to unpack shortly, does seem a little hefty on first impressions, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. Both watches seem to be a little unpopular in some circles for various reasons, but I’ll enjoy them all the same:)

Of these two choices I prefer the steel YMII. I would get the YMII and then add something smaller with a date (maybe a GMT, DJ, etc.).
